I do have some questions though.

Notably, the trailer has NO Super Mario Bros or NEW Super Mario Bros in it. All the "NEW" footage actually appears to be the Mario 3D World games style.
I can't imagine the original SMB is gone, but I'll be annoyed if NSMB has been taken out. As much as it's aesthetic and music choices weren't to everyones taste it had by far the most complete moveset out of the four in the original.

Super Mario Bros was in the trailer, airship segment.

NSMB is also in there at the 0:44 mark.

Panic over!

Yeah the Amiibo costumes were great for themed levels.

Couple of new images:

Seems to show a black and red Piranah plant, Toads and a Koopa Troopa driving a car?

EDIT: The Thwomp seems to be moving horizontally as well.

Also, looking at the trailer again it seems that we might have Vertical levels now. Specifically the section at 1:12 where the screen appears to be autoscrolling up the way.

What games are the ants in? I can only think of them in SML2.

Pretty sure they're in 3D World somewhere.

Oh and I think we might have multiplayer in here. The four characters on the Box Art (Mario, Luigi and two Toads) and the Icon on the creation screen in the bottom left with a Red and Green characters. I'm guessing you can decide how many players can play any given level.

Image

EDIT: Everytime I look I notice something else new or different.

It looks like you can set custom scroll speeds depending on triggers you can place in the level. So you could slow down or speed up an autoscroll section.

Image

You can also set a coin total (Under the Timer button). What that's for I'm not sure. It could be that you can set a coin requirement to clear a level.

I'm blown away by this. I'd hoped we'd see something, but never really expected it.

I'm hoping to see some more additions though. 3D World is great, but visually it's not too different from NEW. I'd like to see something in the style of the GB games. SMB2 is just too different gameplay wise to really incorporate. I am wondering if they will somehow incorporate Odyssey in there. Not sure how, but 3D World appears to work. Include a capture mechanic or something I guess.

So still plenty we'll need to see. I want more details on the curation of levels. Will 10/100 Mario Challenge return? Will amiibo costumes return? Will we be able to play the pre-existing levels? Can't wait for more on this.

I'm so happy right now.

Very happy to see this but my biggest concern is the interface and if it will hold up well not having the GamePad. Chuck in a load more options and make it more sluggish to make levels and it could seriously hinder the experience.

I think it's be ok if you use the Switch undocked. Maybe not as precise as the gamepad due to the touch stylus, being docked will be the bigget issue.

So do these MM games have a traditional 1 player mode or is it literally create level > share with others?

Check out my YouTube channel!
One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Looks fantastic.

Also pretty much confirms 3D world port at some point soon too.

Yeah, I do wonder about the building experience. The stylus usage in the original was slick, quick and accurate and a touchscreen may not offer all of those aspects. When you think about how many hours some of us spent creating in the original format, the feel and pace of the building controls could be critical and I hope that the new approach impresses.

Do we think that we will require Nintendo Online to share levels etc? Because that would be disappointing.

Assuming we don't however, this will probably be the next game i buy (Gamepass is providing adequately for the foreseeable). I never picked it up on the Wii U, and by the time i saw the error of my ways it felt like the ship had sailed. Might get in for day 1 this time.

Been re-watching the reveal for this a few times, so many cool looking features!

Was the first game all about single level creations or could you create sequences of levels to setup your own worlds etc? Just wondering as with the extras they've added to this now it feels like there wouldn't be much stopping someone from recreating some of the old games almost in their entirety within Mario Maker.

If you could create sequences of levels then another cool thing would be if they let you create maps/overworld sections as well!

I hearby announce myself the first (?) competitor in Are You a Master Mario Maker for Switch!

Seriously, With Kart, Smash and now this, Nintendo could not realease another game for Switch and my life would still be complete!

I missed so much of this during the trailer, thanks for this!

Co-op would really top this all off, I really hope it's in there (as the box-art strongly suggests).
