Picture the scene:
After a shitty day at work down Under, which young Supachipz uses the only thing he’s been waiting for on the Switch since launch, to prompt him to keep going. He endures work, a trip to the in laws to pick up the kids, a cold miserable night at his daughters scouts.
He gets home, updates the preload so it’s ready to go at Midnight, in the interests of time cooks a sad microwaveable lamb cooked dinner, dips into the kids old, now lukewarm bath, and then climbs into his electric blanketed bed to get as much sleep as possible before waking up two minutes before unlock time.
He tosses and turns, the excitement a little too much, but eventually falls asleep for an hour. He wakes up every hour, until finally, his watch vibrates, it’s two minutes to unlock time. He searches frantically in his bed side drawer for his classic headphones, rattling them about as his wife stirs next to him. Finally he untangles them, reaches for his fully charged Switch, ready to go.
Unlock time; he taps on the enticing yellow icon on his Switch screen, the game connects to the eshop to check it is indeed time... the game isn’t yet available. “Not to worry” he thinks, “Smash did the same for at least 5 minutes, there must be some heavy demand”.
5 minutes, turns to 10 minutes. He opens Twitter to check the Australian news sites. The most prominent Nintendo site has tweeted that the game didn’t open at first, but is now available. He rushes back to the game, taps it again, still not available...
And then, the cold haunting thought dawns on him...
....
...
he used Nintendo’s strawberry floating voucher system on the UK eshop to preorder the game
