In fact the whole of that post-game world left me feeling slightly cold. Like the game’s hitting us around the head with a big ol’ nostalgia mallet, going, ‘DO YOU RECOGNISE THE HOMAGE YET!? DO YOU!?’
I actually found that post-game world a little cold in feel and not just concept. I think it's the silence of it with the slight echo on the sound effects that actually made it feel a little eerie to me, as opposed to warmly nostalgic. And maybe the realism of the grass textures or something too, who knows. But I found it a little unnerving and would prefer to play around in any of the other worlds.
At first I thought the same but as I actually explored I found that after the noise of the end it was really relaxed and chilled out. Which I appreciated. I dont think its an accident that this is the area you first get to use the music feature in to.
As for the nostalgia, I thought that it had enough of its own design ideas that it felt somewhat unique. With just a few surprises hidden away. Plus I got to
be Yoshi in a new way. Nearing 700 moons now. I adore the way the Kingdoms have come to life and its ace revisiting them. Enjoying a bit of Balloon hiding to. Back to the Metro Kingdom and I've got about 3 moons to go but 1 is the skipping rope thing.
I get to about 50 and Mario simply doesn't seem to be able to jump quick enough.
