I've never played - nor even looked too closely - at this game... but, going by the Nintendo Direct today, it looks to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to finding out more about this.

This is the same game I've got on my SNES Mini isn't it?

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

The original is great, I guess it makes sense now why they never released it on NSO

Kind of... it's a full remake rather than a port, though, Octo.

It's a good game! Original never came out in the UK but has been on virtual consoles over the years, interested to see if it's just a visual/audio change or if they will mess about with gameplay.

Are SquareEnix involved at all?

Yoko Shimomura is coming back for the soundtrack at the very least

I enjoyed what I played of the SNES original (which I got on Wii U). It's a bit weird which is good.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

I've never played the original, I'll be keen for this if I'm assured it doesn't make changes for the worse.

I'm weirdly excited for this Idek why. Friendly reminder to get the hidden block in the castle that's only accessible at the start of the game by jumping on the toad's head that's walking through the corridor.

I wonder if they'll change that so it's accessible at any time.

You're going to hate it when they just cut it entirely

ACKCHUALLY I think it's pretty bullshit. Only accessible at the start of the game before you know about it in-game means it's impossible to know on a first playthrough. It's also just incredibly obscure to find and being a one-time thing means you can't even experiment with it and theorise where it might be.

Nope. Give me suddenly fighting a bow and arrow character in an RPG.

(NB 'character' and 'RPG', Origami King's 'cast' don't count.)
