It’s no longer missable now thankfully

Ah fair. I wondered if they'd do something about it. I take it they added a toad by the door later in the game maybe?

Is the humorous dialogue I would hope for.

Finally started today and played about an hour and a half so far. This is absolutely delightful.

I never got very far trying to play this on emulator/when I bought this on Virtual Console on the Wii so it's one of the major Nintendo releases I've never properly experienced. Looking forward to playing more!

Played a couple of hours of this and can agree it's very cool so far. A lot of good QoL changes as well. Always running now by default is great, though it feels weirdly slower than before? Maybe it's just the animations. Otherwise so far everything seems very faithful. My only real gripe so far is the framerate isn't always consistent. Which is a shame given how great everything else looks.

I put it down after the first star and am not sure if I have any desire to go back. It is painfully outdated. I’m a bit annoyed at myself for not doing more research about it and getting it on something of a Paper Mario whim. Wasted a game voucher on it when I would have been better off going for Origami King. It feels like a remaster rather than a remake.

I'm sure this game is far better than Origami King. What's outdated about it?

Forgot to mention before, my other gripe with the game is the lack of proper 3D movement. It has a tiny bit of lenience side to side for each direction, but ultimately it snaps to one of the 8 directions, so using the stick feels horrible sometimes. It's the case for a lot of stick mapping on 2D games, like, if you're gonna make it 3D and use the stick just make it 3D with full stick control. Not this half attempt nonsense.

It’s no more out dated than something like Dragon Quest, it’s a classic turn based RPG, I was finding it hard to get into in the first hour or so but I’m almost 5 hours in now and I’m loving it.

Couple of hours into this now and finding it very engrossing. You can certainly tell it's an old game but it doesn't feel like there's any fat on it at all in terms of pacing and it's been quite hard to put down. Combat has been pretty easy so far but the combo bonus from the timing button presses make it surprisingly addictive. Also, given how careful Nintendo are with the Mario brand these days it's quite refreshing to play a Mario game that is plain weird at times!

Very much this, between and Paper Mario TTYD I hope they see people like the weirdness and uniqueness of the character’s in these games and start becoming more relaxed adding them in future Mario games.

Just reached Lands End, I love how snappy this game is, no part of it feels boring or dragged out, just flows super well!

I'm 6 hours in and there's really no padding on it whatsoever. It makes it very difficult to put down! A lot of modern game design could take some pointers from that.

Coming to the end of this now-12-13 hours in and have just got to the weapon world so I assume the end is night).

Have really enjoyed my time with it and I can see why so many people adored the original. The world is weird and wacky, and a lot of fun to explore. And it's laugh out loud funny in places. The battle system is a little dated now perhaps (I've never been that into turn based combat anyway) but involving enough not to be an issue. I'm glad they remade it!

Echoing this, something I've really noticed. There's no room for padding on a SNES cart I assume!

Looks lush too, I assume this has already been mentioned several times.
