A Donkey Kong Country World expansion is arriving in the Universal Studios (Japan) theme park in Spring 2024!

Planning for this new area was announced back in 2021 by Shigeru Miyamoto:

Miyamoto wrote:"I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality following the world of Mario. I am looking forward to creating a thrilling Donkey Kong experience with the amazing team at Universal. It will take some time until it is completed, but it will be a unique area for not only people who are familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests."

Watching that trailer makes me think they should have also tied it in with a Theme Park style game.

The minecart ride better actually launch you between tracks or I'm suing Miyamoto

Nintendo has upset the (mine)cart and delayed the opening of the Donkey Kong section at the Universal Studios (Japan) park from "Spring" 2024 to "late" 2024.

Will you be barrelling towards the park once Donkey Kong appears?

My idea of hell. Just the thought of being there makes me feel ill.

To coincide with the release of the new DK game on Switch, right Nintendo?!

FYI, Universal have already bought a load of land just south of Bedford and are in the consultation stages (But sounding promising), aiming to have a park open in 2030. Here's hoping if it happens we get a Nintendo Land closer to home.

Their whole proposal is here

Saw some of the Donkey Kong area when we were there recently (Though only a few bits we could see from other areas of the park), but the theming and vibe of Super Nintendo World in Japan was absolutely spot on. The Mario Kart rise was also an absolute blast, though the Yoshi ride was utter bobbins though and not even remotely worth the wait.

I'll be 47 so definitely in the target market for this.
That said a proper Universal park in the UK would be amazing. Filled with Harry Potter gooseberry fool no doubt, but I can overlook that for potential Jurassic Park/Nintendo stuff.

strawberry float me can you imagine how miserable a place like that would be with uk weather? Half the thing about those places in America is its beautiful and hot, sunny skies.

Universal studios COLD AND RAIN edition, with miserable staff.

I think they said that the plan for the UK one was for it to have stuff the others don't so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have a Harry Potter area since 3 other Universal Parks have it.

Unfortunately that would likely go the same for Nintendo and Jurassic Park stuff.

"South of Bedford" sounds like a euphemism for Luton.

This is another factor to support Peter Crisp's assertion that Luton is one of the country's greatest towns!

Just make it a new theme for the Mario area, base it on 1-2 so they can set it mostly indoors.
