I'm very happy for Terry, especially if they put my favourite Fatal Fury music in the DLC.

To be honest, Crews would probably be more interesting.

Apparently Sakurai was a big fan of King of Fighters in the 90s.

Pretty underwhelmed by the new DLC character.

This is almost entirely subjective but I much prefer the non-human characters to the more realistic or anime ones. Again, this is just how it feels to be, but it feels a bit oversaturated with them now.

This is admittedly because I often have less of an interest in the series they belong too, but I also find a lot of the novelty factor is gone when a) it's a character from another beat up, in another beat em up and b) when it's just two human characters hitting each other.

Give me Donkey Kong twatting Jiggypuff while Fox McCloud stares on in horror dammit.

EDIT - I was going to say that it feels like the series has moved away from the cartoony mash up and more towards animey beat em up characters, though probably half the cast of the N64 original could be classed as humanoid (albeit Mario, Luigi and Ness edge towards the less realistic side of it).

I'm also biased as I generally prefer Nintendo characters due to the sort of niche gaming hero-athon it's become now.

I agree, human/sword characters are everywhere now. It was interesting seeing Snake in Brawl because of how regular he looked. Now we have so many, Banjo is a nice change. I'll try him out later. But yeah, give me more Rayman or differently shaped characters. Even Plant is more interesting in this regard.

I agree with all of your post, but I thought I was the only one who still felt this bit! I haven’t got the fighters’ pass due to it being all Nontendo (and the stupidity of the first character when his main game hasn’t graced a Nintendo machine ever). This character is definitely not encouraging me to pick it up either.

How can so many people be so wrong?

Terry is a good boy.

Of the human characters the likes of Ryu and Terry are on the less offensive side even if their character designs are more on the grounded side.

I didn't want the rumours about Terry to be true either; the fact he is pulled from another fighting game means that adapting his moveset lacks creativity.

Part of what makes Smash unique is how you get to fight as characters not necessarily designed to in the first place and that's why some slots in the overall roster seem wasted in my opinion.

Yeah, giving Pikachu Thunder or Link a bow was real creative.

Don't know much about Terry but I just hope he's fun to play. I've been satisfied with the DLC characters so far and I'm looking forward to another surprise.

I wonder whether female version of Terry will be an alt costume.

I think this was more or less a given but it's cool to see hints of it potentially confirmed.
