Neither Salazar nor Mendez would work. It needs to be Lord Saddler, a Spaniard with a bizarrely Anglicised name.

Over the weekend was the UK's biggest tournament ever, Albion 4. 895 entrants, making it an A-tier, major event, iirc 40% of entrants were UK, with many foreign players coming down, the likes of Dabuz, MVD, Raito, Mr. R, etc.

Ya boy here managed to break out of pools into the top 128 pro bracket, but unfortunately couldn't make it further than that (97th). Our boy Sabrofra got one step further tho, making it to 65th.

Also got some friendlies with Dabuz which was super fun and didn't do too badly neither. 8^) Overall was an amazing event, cheering in the crowds and great nights out afterwards.

Have Nintendo given any indication yet on how well the Fighter Pass has sold?

I wonder if they have an internal benchmark set, which will greenlight a Season 2.

The games director has said developing DLC takes the same time and resources as developing a new game and that his team would rather make new games. I can't see there being a season 2.

I think we're getting a season 2, just that Sakurai won't be as heavily involved in the process. Sakurai said he already has a team that helps with designing and balancing characters. I don't see why they can't take over.

They are designing 5 unique characters, 5 unique stages, composing new music, adding new features such as stage builder and updating the game balance. This means keeping the studios staff on smash bros projects and continuing to pay them as if they were developing a whole new game while being unable to begin a new project. So in a sense yes it does take away the time and resources of a new game as they are committed to smash bros for what will likely be 12-18 months after release depending on how many more updates they plan to include.

Keep in mind they began development on ultimate in 2015 as they were wrapping up the last of the Wii U dlc for release in early 2016. Ultimate was 3 years in the making and had an already existing game to use as the base. The series has continued to reuse assets to save on development time. Considering Sakurai has said each new character is designed as if they were in a separate game it isn't farfetched that a season pass consisting of entirely new assets would be resource consuming.

Nintendo won't make an announcement at Evo. The game is for everyone, not just competitive players. Releasing at Evo would be excluding casual players who prefer to get their information from Nintendo themselves and Nintendo directs.

God, fine. Mini Direct That coincidentally lines up with the Grand Finals at Evo then. :shifty:

Nintendo has had a presence at Evo since Smash 4 tho. Ultimate has almost 3.5k entrants. There is no way they aren't getting involved in some way at least. Plus, if Ultimate is the last game shown on Sunday Finals, there's potential for insane numbers in viewership.

I don't imagine they'll place Ultimate in Street Fighter's slot. Because let's face it, that's Street Fighter's slot for better or worse.

Edit: Never mind, I called this super wrong and SF isn't just not the finale, it isn't even the prime slot.

This is gonna be insane. We could be in for a pretty special event. Tekken getting second to last is pretty awesome to see too.

Nintendo UK VS said 31st and then changed it to 'within 7 days'. I'm hoping it's not because it's actually 1st August at 2am which is when patches have happened in the past.

Chillin' with Sakurai while he shows off Hero. I like this format.

Edit: Hero looks more extensive than I expected he would be. Almost plays like a different game. As OP he may seem, I dig new elements being introduced in Smash that spices things up >,>
