I just think it's an excellent pick regardless. Really solid third party choice, ideally bringing yet more weirdness and unique elements into Smash which some of the DLC characters have been exemplary for. Can't wait for the character rundown in two days time.

That's now 2 Microsoft-owned properties represented in Smash Bros Ultimate!

Yeah I'm tight. But I'm holding back personal feelings and just respecting the choice. Because it is probably the biggest DLC so far in terms of rep. It was inevitable at this point >,> He does look kinda interesting. Sakurai mentioning how they have to rework stages for him also got me curious.

Brutal.

It's not for me, this DLC. But it is a bloody good move and a big name for Sakurai and Smash Bros. to have on the cast.

This.

Parts of the Smash community are so hung up on their choice getting in tbeh don't really see the bigger picture.

The fact that it broke twitter speaks for itself. I legit don't think many other reveals could achieve that. Maybe Goku lol.

I think this looks like a great addition to the game and Minecraft is still a huge game so should help in drawing in some newer players to Nintendo and SSB

While I've never really played Minecraft, the trailer genuinely got me hyped. I don't know if a Minecraft rep would really fit in Smash, which seems quite apparent from what Sakurai was saying at the start, but it'll be interesting to see what they've come up with.

One thing I debate with myself over, is whether all these 'unique gimmicks' are good or bad additions. On one hand, it really makes a character stand out, and most of the time makes the character hold more true to the original franchise than it would otherwise. But conversely, it can be very tricky to learn all the unique little quirks of the character, so they're not as accessible to just pick up and play. Characters like the shotos and Min-min, even Shulk's monado arts, just aren't fun to pick up and play because they play so differently to the rest of the cast imo, so you really need to learn what they're all about before you can even start playing as them. One of the cool things I liked about Smash from the beginning were how some characters didn't really have much of a moveset to go off of in their own games. Just look at Falcon. Fox has a bunch of random kicks and punches too. God knows what DK's dash attack was before they changed it to the Country roll in 4. But yeah, it seems like they're going more for authenticity and true representation over what would feel good/right and balancing purposes. We'll see how Steve's block-making and crafting gimmick plays out

I mean anyone who thinks that releasing the mascot of the actual highest selling videogame of all time as DLC is a bad idea definitely isn't seeing much of any picture.

At least he looks like he'll be interesting to play. Might take a little getting used to, but you can't say he doesn't bring something new.

Still kind of hate everything about his art style, though.

Also hug your local NMH fan today. They might need it.

I wonder if the next character will be Steve's lost Xbox 360?

I'll spend a day messing around with his character but doubt it will go beyond that. Just doesn't seem my style, but still respect the crazy amount of work they put into him.

This is my feeling on it. I might not even spend the fiver tbh. I haven't with Byleth(though that's partially in protest at the ridiculous over-representation of Fire Emblem in SSB).

I might be in the minority but I'm happy enough to pay for the packs for a few bashabouts with a new player, but then their new stages and music even moreso.

The stages from Banjo, Persona, KoF, Fire Emblem (and my mate's personal favourite accompaniment 'Fodlan Winds') and Arms (maybe my fave all-round for battlefield and music) have got a lot of runtime out of my Smash circle.
