Releasing today is Update 3.0. In the patch notes, Pichu damages itself by 100% whenever it uses an electrical attack.
Oh, and Kirby has now been made OP tier, capable of destroying everyone in one attack.

Yeah feels like he was announced way too early. The announcement itself was really cool though.

I do wonder if they planned something MP4 for the VGA and when they got cancelled, they brought Joker's reveal forward.

The reveal was a cool shock moment because none of us literally saw it coming. But to then leave us in the dark and not show a single piece of gameplay to this day just feels really out of character from Smash.

He's a character that has next to no involvement with Nintendo and also being from a game that was exclusive to PlayStation. Personally, that left me pretty dumbfounded, similar to Cloud's reveal

There's speculation Joker might not arrive till May now. On the website, it used to say 'Approaching April' but now it just says 'Approaching' . I think the reveal was timed really well when hype was probably at its peak. It also gives people an incentive to preemptively buy the fighter's pass.

Seems like an odd fumble on Nintendo's part but this confirms it nonetheless. IT'S TIME.

Anything I can think of that would make this feature worthwhile (custom music, dynamic backgrounds, just off the top of my head) are lengths I highly doubt Ninty would go to.

Based on the precedent set by Brawl and Smash 4, what makes this a big deal?

Smash 4 built upon Stage builder in a lot of ways which has me expect the same for Ultimate. I trust Sakurai to make this the best version yet. I could even see this being tied into Mario Maker in some way. Give us more tools to make more unique stages.

When we see Joker again he will be summoning a persona that is one of the new Fire Emblem characters taking his place on the roster.

I'm honestly looking forward to seeing what they're doing with Joker. People dismiss him as Anime Sword Man™ #626, but there's so much potential for a novel, varied moveset. He barely uses his own melee attacks in-universe, in favour of his much stronger Persona skills. They could pluck literally any SMT demon out of a hat and make a move out of it.

Even tho it's not my cup of tea, I'm still curious how Joker will be expressed in Smash.

LOOKIN' COOL, JOKER!

This will probably be out by the time everyone wakes up.

Edit: Never mind, we don't get it until the 18th, apparently.

Oh so now Smash is happy to include straight-up guns. Snake weeps.

Meanwhile v3.0 brings Stage Builder, which I was never that enamoured with; and allows you to cobble together Windows Home Movies of Smashing.

Okay.
