‘Supergirl’ Finds Its Superman: Tyler Hoechlin Cast In CW Series

As Supergirl prepares to fly faster than a speeding bullet from CBS to the CW, the network has announced that Everybody Wants Some! star Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Superman/Clark Kent, the first live-action television incarnation of the Man of Steel since Smallville starring Tom Welling went off the air in 2011. As previously announced, Superman will make his debut on the DC Television universe, which also includes The Flash, Arrow, and Legends Of Tomorrow, at the start of Supergirl‘s second season when he visits Kara in National City.

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” said Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer of Supergirl. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

Hoechlin most recently was seen starring in Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some!, and will soon appear in the British action-thriller Stratton as well as the sports dramedy Undrafted. His credits include Road To Perdition, Hall Pass, Solstice and Teen Wolf.

Half expecting him to die early on and Kara's universe to get merged with the Arrowverse.

That photo would suggest she's been cast as The Joker. :dread:

A 1st look at a new character & more casting news -

Supergirl has hired Cougar Town alum Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr in a recurring role for its second season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Hollywood trade describes Gomez's Carr as a"headstrong, sharp-witted newsman" hired by Cat Grant. In comic books, Snapper Carr was the unofficial civilian mascot of the original Justice League, and has been a reporter in several stories, including in the Justice League animated series. At one point, he also developed metahuman powers, and prior to the "New 52," had a relationship with the Cheetah.

EW does not specify in which episode Gomez will debut as Carr, nor in how many episodes he will appear.

I think it would have been great if they could have had Dean Cain and Lynda Carter play superman and wonderwoman.

Tom Welling should have been Superman, don't like the look of this guy.

He's blatantly going to be killed off within the first two episodes so I wouldn't worry.

The Supergirl/Arrow/Flash/Legends crossover isn't going to have enough material for four episodes if Superman can swoop in and solve it within five minutes.

Yeah I want to say he was pitch perfect - but that could just be an overreaction to the Snyder-verse version! Certainly very good

And they ditched the Jimmy/Kara thing awfully quickly!

I'm a complete idiot - but I've only just realised that the casting of Superman means they can now show the return of the "real" Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman...

Superman was cheerful, saved people and wore an actual Superman costume. This is a brave new take on the character. Probably the best episode of Supergirl they've ever done I'd argue.
