Prince Ali has said he can run again.

I presume Blatter stepping down was one of his three wishes.

DAVID GILL STATEMENT
David Gill says he is wiling to play a part in FIFA's future following the news that Sepp Blatter is to resign.

Gill said: "Naturally, I fully welcome today's news as a major step forward for FIFA on the road to proper reform.

"As I announced following the election at FIFA Congress, I simply could not countenance serving on the FIFA Executive Committee alongside Mr Blatter. I respect his decision but am pleased he is standing aside and by the clear determination for real change within FIFA. This, in turn, allows me to reconsider my position.

"Having yet to confirm formally my resignation, I am more than willing to play my part in helping to bring about a positive future for FIFA, and to work with the many people within the organisation who are only committed to developing and promoting the game around the world.

"I will speak to my UEFA colleagues as soon as possible about the next steps and make no further comment until then."

If Blatter resigned before the election, Ali would have won. Now, with a re-vote, new countries won't vote for Ali, but whoever Blatter's chosen successor will be. Just gives them more time to organize instead of doing it 2 days before the election.

Just saw that. Makes sense that they looking for a new puppet to lead the organisation.

I think FIFA have honestly lost control for the first time in their history. Don't think there's any conspiracy in electing a new leader, certainly not a planned one.

Well it does make sense that if he did resign last week then Ali would have won. But now he can let one of his cronies take part in a election.

I don't think it's a great day for football until we know who has replaced him really.

I was just watching Channel 4 news with my father and he started singing that song every time they mentioned the name.

The only thing that I care about is what John Oliver is going to do now that Blatter is gone.

Lets not forget wearing the Adidas shoes and eating everything from the McDonald's dollar menu.

Licking a baboon's arse has got to be better than drinking bud lite.

Would love to see Gill go for the top job, he's got that streak of class they've been missing at FIFA.
