It's not for the likes of us though - it's for people who want one for their kids but maybe can't stretch to buying the proper one. Also they may not want little timmy dropping a proper expensive console. It's the 2ds equivalent and will sell like mad to kids, especially when the inevitable pokemon themed ones come out.

Its effectively £50 less if you count the £30 evoucher included with the £280 bundle. Its a stupid price and shouldn't be more than £129.99 if it was for kids.

Interesting thought, how did you get to that number?

Switch Lite is £200

Switch is £280 with £30 eshop credit, so £250

£250 minus £200 is £50

For £50 you get a more powerful console, a dock, a controller adaptor, hdmi cable, hd rumble etc

Has Switch Lite been confirmed at £200? I thought we only had the US price ($200).

Why is £130 the magic number and not say, £150?

£150 is still too much. GAME are selling it for £200 https://www.game.co.uk/en/nintendo-swit ... ey-2388848

I just hate these type of products that strip the core mechanics out rather than bringing out more quality hardware. £200 is way too much for this imo. It's already underpowered as it is and then they charge a stupid price. I hope Sony or MS bring out a handheld rival to trounce it. Makes me angry because they have no competition they bring out stuff like this.

I should also add people are happy to have a go at Sony for being arrogant, I think we need to look over at Nintendo.

Remember when sony released multiple ps3s, with each one stripping out more and more functionality?

Pepperidge farm remembers.

Yes, I don't agree with that either, even if it was Sony.

Yeah, it appears that the UK price is £199.99. If there was a slick, simple way of sharing and continuing games between the Switch and the Lite then I'd be interested in taking a closer look but it seems that - going by my previous post on how this aspect could work - this may not be the case.

The switch is pretty dinky as it is anyway, for those of us who already have one, this really has no benefits to buying a second one.

Its £200? Even if I was looking into getting a singular Switch that I would play mainly away from the TV the standard Switch still seems the better deal in my eyes? For £80 more you get a bigger screen, detachable controllers (also allowing for multiplayer in some games), a dock so you can play it on the TV as well as away from the TV and the only trade off is slightly shorter battery life? Maybe a bit more portable (not that I’ve found the current Switch cumbersome to travel with at all) as well.

I’m also in the ‘£200 is too much camp’. Wasn’t planning on picking one up anyway, but I’m not sure if the £80(£50?) savings is actually worth the limited functionality.

Ad7 hits the nail on the head at the top of the page and the misunderstanding continues so Ill try to be clear. This is for kids. It is designed to be used by children. The joy con are not part of the unit to reduce the chance of breakages. Kids do not care about HD rumble or hooking up to a TV so that functionality was also removed. This is not aimed at you, it is aimed at children. If it does not appeal to you then that is just fine, its not meant to.

Nintendo make lots of mistakes, there is a lot of gooseberry fool they do really badly, updating their hardware to be more kid friendly is not one of them. To reiterate one more time, this device is not aimed at you, it is for children to play and parents to have piece of mind.

I'd buy it for 200.

Have you ever noticed how in adverts for kid's toys, the kids in the advert are almost always older than the target market?

Although I don't think that's quite what is happening here in fairness, the announcement video for new hardware is deliberately generic, and they're staying on-brand.

Quite a lot older then! I don't think this will sell as well as Nintendo need it to. What Nintendo need is some proper competition.

£200 for a kid's toy so that they can drop it without breaking it, or not stick the joycon on the wrong way?

If it's designed to be used by children, how will you play Labo on it? Or play simple 2 player with your friends without buying an extra controller? You know, like Mario Kart, Smash or...pretty much any first party co-op or competitive game. Perhaps it is for friendless children with no siblings or interested parents.

Who says kids don't care about game enhancing things like rumble, or hooking it up to e.g. their bedroom TV? Or are you mainly talking about a Switch for toddlers?

Also, suggesting that if you add these features back that it goes back to its original price suggests they haven't been able to cut costs in the 2 years since they made the original, which can't be true at all.

In fact, surely they'd be far better to just have a price cut on the original switch and sticking a picture of Bob the Builder on it.

If it was aimed at anyone, in fact, I'd say it was regular commuters.

Kids don't care about being able to play games in co-op?

No. Most Kids toys ads tend to have young children, and I don't think any have 50-year-old dudes on skateboards.
