Taking UK Consoles to Japan

So I am moving to Japan at the beginning of August for at least a year. I figured that one way to make my apartment feel more at home would be to get a games console. I am planning on taking my 3DS and Vita over, as I have quite a few games for them already (and more for the Vita via Plus/downloadable games).
Firstly, are there any problems for these I will experience? I know the 3DS is region locked, and the Vita isn't? It doesn't bother me for the 3DS, as I have quite a few games to play for it, and I might pick up a Japanese XL over there eventually, for new releases. The Vita I have about 20 games from Plus to play, as well as a few RPGs, so may not need new titles. I'll obviously need a plug adaptor, but the lower voltage shouldn't cause a problem, right? They will just charge slowly?
As for home consoles, the Wii U and 360 are region locked; the PS3 isn't. The benefit of the PS3 would be the sheer amount of games I have amassed via PS Plus.
Firstly, do you need a step-up converter for them? And does an English PS3 work on a Japanese TV?
As for my PSN account, can you still access your UK account over there? Could I still access all the games I have on UK PS Plus? Can you switch at will between the Japanese store and the UK one?
Or, am I better off just buying a cheap PS3 over there instead of wasting luggage space transporting mine? If I buy a Japanese console, can I still access all my UK stuff?
The same questions apply to the 360, if I buy a cheap one over there.
