Tales from the Crypt Fat Tuesday A missing film, any other missing films?

I have always been super intrested in missing films and games and books. Stuff that is supposed to exist or supposed to have come out but for one reason or another didnt. I have previously talked about prototype games that never saw the light of day but im a huge Tales from the Crypt fan and theres a whole missing film that not that much gets said about so I thought id make a video on it. Are there any other missing films that you guys know about ?

There's a bunch of lost Doctor Who episodes that were broadcast on TV once and then lost forever as the master tapes were re-used since preservation wasn't a thing at the time.

They did air, but it was so long ago they might as well never have.

I'm well into this kind of thing, prototypes, proof of concepts, dropped/reworked ideas etc. all of that stuff really interests me about most kinds of creative work. Seeing what someone intended to make compared to how it ended up, the compromises they made, how their vision may have changed over time and so on, I just find it all fascinating.

Beta/prototype games in particular I spend quite a lot of time reading up on, in fact my first forays onto the internet and involvement in any kind of online community was all centered around discussion and research for the beta version of Sonic 2!

One of the things I love about having a megadrive everdrive and snes ever drive is being able to get to try prototype stuff on real hardware, if you look on my channel there's a video for a SNES prototype called real shitty batman. I think its one of the good parts of the net the fact info on this sort of stuff can be shared.

Seeing this thread reminded me of a story i read a while back about a film which doesn't exist, yet many believe that it once did...

Yeah this is annoying as a Who fan as unless your old enough and never missed it on TV you can't say you have seen every episode. The BBC have tried to rectify the situation by offering money for TV recordings of lost episodes and animating lost episodes they have audio for so you can see stories that have a gap in them in some kind of fashion etc. I find the whole think very interesting.

Thing is some of them were from before VCRs were common in households so some episodes may well be lost forever.
Even if someone did record them there's a chance of tapes being so degraded that they're unusable.

I'd strawberry floating love me an everdrive but they be pricey. Though I would rather get not pal consoles first.

As far as the megadrive and ever drives go the news is better than the SNES basically all ever drive carts you'll get even the most knock of knock ofs will play everything bar virtual racing, (I got one of my two megadrive ever drives for £25) its also super easy through a very minor soldering job to turn a European megadrive into a US or JAP one . The SNES is harder to mod and the cheaper £50 ever drives play a lot of games but to play everything or as close to as possible you need a £130 odd one. I only have a cheap SNES one myself.

That isn't too bad, but, I ain't soldering anything. I will likely melt my arms off.

False memories like that are scary though. It makes me wonder how much of my childhood actually happened and how much of it was just stories/TV that my brain has decided actually happened.

I am sure that the time me and my friends found a pirate treasure map, navigated through underground booby traps while being chased by the Fratelli crime family actually happened, but I can’t be sure.

Good old Goonies, I remember me and my friends trying to bury treasure and make bases in the woods cause of films like that. I also remember that because there was a Goonies 2 game there were all kinds of rumours that a Goonies 2 had been made but it was shelved because one of the kids had died making it and various other BS stories that nowdays youd fact check in 2 seconds

If I still had my original Megadrive I would be all over an everdrive that's for sure.

Playing prototype stuff on original hardware would definitely be fun. And although it's not so much of an issue now that emulators have developed so far I believe there were plenty of prototype ROMs back in the day that would only run on properly on hardware and not on emulators because of quirks in the way their unfinished code operated.

They should have mentioned that in the article.

There was a whole tv show I was sure I’d invented for years because no one I knew or talked to had seen it (and to me it was on Power Rangers/Gladiators level pop culture prevalence) about a kid who fell out of a tree and hit his head and half the show was him in this teeny mad max coma society with no adults and the the other half was his parents tending to his comatose body in hospital.

Turns out it was called The Oddysey and it just turns out no one I talked to was as cool as I was for having seen it.

Also I think Fritz Lang’s Metropolis is amazing and also mostly cobbled together from broken film prints and random stills found as prizes in gooseberry fool boxes of Coco Pops.
