Google seems adamant I'm now located in New York, so it's completely buggering up the search engine and adverts.

Image

I've tried various things listed here: https://digicruncher.com/chrome-thinks- ... r-country/ and it's just not having it. It just seemed to happen over night, so even if I'm watching YouTube on my TV the adverts are now all geared towards New York and America.

Signed in or out of my Google account seems to make no difference either. Checked my IP address and it's definitely in London.

My work laptop always thinks I'm in Copenhagen for some reason.

I guess there's only one solution. I'm going to have to move to New York.

So the school I work is technically a Christian school and while it doesn't interfere on many occasions but I must admit assemblies with 100% full on no messing unironic bible bashing is really weird. Haven't seen communal prayer in a school since I was like 7. There's even staff prayers before school.

Religious schools are so weird in this day and age. There's a Christian primary school just down the road, and years ago a friend tried to get his kid in there as it's a good school, but they wouldn't take them as they're not Christian. Its all bollocks anyway, It's like you may as well reject people based on if they believe in Santa or ghosts or not while you're at it.

I'd like my kid to get a good education please.

Great, do you believe fairy stories are real and that a big magic man lives in the clouds and makes magic things happen.

No, but I'd like a good education for my kid please.

If people want a religious school, then they should have to pay for it privately. If the school is receiving public money, then they should not be allowed to indoctrinate kids or turn away kids who are the "wrong" religion.

Aye, like I say I don’t think anyone gets knocked back at the gate for not being Christian, I know for a fact we’ve got some Muslim kids, and the religious side doesn’t cloud the curriculum so I’m not too uncomfortable teaching there.

For the record it is also a private school so I think they’re in the clear.

Aren't most schools in the UK religious? They just all have varying degrees of eligibility. I couldn't get into a secondary school near me as you needed a priest's recommendation or something along those lines. I remember we as a family went to church for about a month...before it all became too much and we just gave up. Some people with greater willpower obviously managed to endure months...YEARS...of this TORTURE to get their kid into a good school.

The majority of schools in the UK are not what would be classed as "faith schools" - I think they make up about 1/3 of the total number of schools. Most eligibility for school places won't take into account religion, but that doesn't mean there won't be some element of religion demonstrated within the school - there was no faith selection criteria at one of the schools I went to but they still had hymns and prayers during assembly which always felt odd to me!

I went to Church of England school when I was a kid, so it was pretty lax. There was zero religious education, you just had to sing a couple of those hymns each morning. Plus I wasn't christened or baptised and the school never even asked about that.

The hymns are probably more based on tradition rather than religion in most schools like that. I don't even know if any of the teachers were actual believers.
