I was looking at the November one, with Fiona Shaw, Chris Eccleston and a few others so maybe I've got the wrong one. :slol:

I can't say whether this is true or not, but mum thinks that it seemed to gradually develop during the 70's and 80's, especially when my generation arrived in the 80's.

That said, she probably does have a point as the generation i largely grew up with, did contain a large group of the very sort of people you described (no respect for others, self entitled, aggressive, and violent), i mean hell, i had not long started school at 5, and found myself being physically attacked for no reason!

It worries me that this creeping attitude of "there were no problems before the 1970s" seems to be becoming prevalent. All you need to do is look at Rivers of Blood and the public reaction to see that's false, but there has always been significant levels of violence and aggression within the population.

My personal layman theory is that this is due to the way we typically learn the history of the country by not focusing on how the typical person lived, plus a recurring nostalgia for childhood that cements things having always been better "back in my day" or even earlier.

Absolutely, it's total nonsense. I'm not sure it's even becoming more prevalent - more that we're now getting into the age ranges where people start to look to the past at how wonderful everything was when they were young

I'm sure something like knife crime wasn't as prevalant back when I was a kid. (30 years ago), although admitedly it could just be the fact we have far more visibility now than back then.

excellent

You need someone to wait by the car the entire day with a fishing rod, then as you leave you run at him shouting to start the engine.
