I had a pretty shitty morning this morning.

We went to my Uncles to talk with the minister who will be holding my Nan's funeral at the church and give him our memories or whatever. That was hard enough as it was, but when I asked my Uncle if I could get my cat back tomorrow he said I'm going to have to wait until a few weeks after the funeral as it's not fair on my cousin.

I don't give a flying strawberry float about my cousin, it's my cat and I need her to help me get through all of this. I got really upset over everything again as I think the fact I've been trying to bury everything inside by continuing to work and move has finally caught up with me and the fact I'm going to be at home alone for the next week really hit home how much everything hurts.

I literally have no choice but to wait until my Uncle will let me go to my Nan's house to get my cat, but I'm really strawberry floating pissed off and upset about the whole thing. "it's not fair on him". Well what about me? Why does my life not seemingly matter?

Since my Nan died apparently my cat hasn't left her bedside which made it even worse. I want to be there to help my cat through this as well ;_;

It's your cat! Lay down the law, tell him you're taking your cat back because he's yours, and not your cousin's. It's not fair on your cousin? strawberry float him, it's not his cat. His feelings are meaningless compared to yours.

Trouble is if I start acting like a banana split then I'm no better than anyone else. This week is really going to strawberry floating suck, but maybe my cat needs to grieve for my Nan as well, so maybe it's selfish of me to take her away so suddenly from the place that's been her home for the past year and a half.

I'm going to make it clear when I speak to my uncle that I want to get my cat next weekend. I have to be selfish then, because I'm going to suffer really bad emotionally once the funeral is over and done with. I need my cat to help me through that. This week though I'll let things lie.

A bit extreme. I'm sure his cousin is grieving, too.

Staydead, I obviously don't know your family, and their dynamics, but maybe go and see this cousin of yours? I take it they're a bit younger than you? Maybe they're feeling isolated at this moment as well, and might have grown attached to the cat. Perhaps if you talk to them, you can let them know how important the cat is to you, or you might see their attachment to it, and feel differently about insisting that you need it back more.

My cousin is about 15-16 years older than me. My family has been through a lot of drama this past year and it's put a wedge betwen everyone. I've tried to stay out of it all and that's still the case, but I think now is the time I need to be selfish. When I speak to my Uncle I'm going to say I want to take my cat back next weekend. Next Monday and Tuesday will be the only time I have off between the time of the funeral (I've got this week off) and the new year (other than Christmas) and I need to get my cat settled in here at least for a few days before I go back to work.

I assumed they were a little kid or something and might've seen your uncle's point of view had that been the case. Given they're a grown-up though they should give you back your cat whenever you want it.

If they're an actual adult, why are these conversations going through your uncle?

It's a long story, but my cousin probably wouldn't even let me and especially my Dad in the house. My Uncle technically owns the house and my cousin who is up his arse will listen to him when he tells him to let us in.

I just spoke to my Mum about it who said I should just make it clear to my Uncle that I want to go in this week to get my cat back and he's going to have to acccept it. If my cousin needs company he has his family and he can get his own pet.

Qikz utterly ridiculous that theyre holding your cat from you; like said above, no need to be confrontational just lightly drop it in that youre free in the next few days and youre coming to pick up your cat on (e.g.) Sat morning and see what they say

I've told my Dad that I want to get her at the weekend and he agreed that it's what I should do. I'll speak to him more about it tomorrow. I've had enough upset for today to want to do anything more. You're correct in the fact that it's ridiculous that they're holding my cat from me and without being a total dick I AM going to get her next weekend whether they like it or not. She's my family, not my cousins (although technically she's one of his old cats kittens).

I'm sorry for venting on here, it's just outside of my family who I don't really want to talk to this is the best place I have to vent. I've known most of you online for around 11 years now and as much as y'all probably don't want to listen to my gooseberry fool all the time, you're the best I have. Thanks for being there for me all this time. I love this place. :wub:

Just finished the Glasgow to Edinburgh bike ride with my manager. He's forgot his bike lock keys so we can't chain them up. We have to chain them up because he parked his car at the old finish line 8 miles away. We're both too tired to cycle that far so I'm stuck watching these bikes while he explores his was back to the car. I just want to nap :(
