Being allowed to live in a nice place with people who care for them, with constant visitors to give them attention and no loud noises?

The cats usually have quiet areas where they can go for privacy. The cats that are out and about are socialising because they want to, and there's rules so people (children) don't terrorise them.
The one in Nottingham is great, and you can adopt certain cats there, too
Some of them have health issues or other problems that mean they're not really suitable as proper pets but they have a nice place to live and a whole load of attention should they want it.

You obviously don't let the felines into the part where food/drinks are made. Unless a cat faceplants into your cup you'll probably be alright.
