I had a belter dinner of lamb roast to make up for the pain of losing my passport and not being next to banjo to mop up the tears.

Scampi and mash seems a strange combo.

I had something called “Bol Fire Roasted Cauliflower Tikka Masala”. It was £2 in Sainsbury’s (I believe it’s supposed to be £4!) so I thought I may as well try it. It was pleasant enough, if rather...small. Even adding a samosa I felt unfulfilled. Thankfully a cup of tea and 3 Mr Kipling lemon slices soon sorted that out.

Jealous. I always regretted not going to see him when he was in Budapest while I lived there.

Curry, rice and basically baked potatoes. Basically new potatoes herb and spice up with some oil and baked. It's really nice.

Baked Potatoes have to be one of the only foods where the name is also the cooking instructions. (Can only think of Stir Fry Chicken as another example).

Roast potatoes/chicken/beef? Fried eggs/bread? Boiled eggs/potatoes?

There are loads.

Butterbean mash, roasties, veg and red wine gravy. Chocolate and hazelnut pudding with ice cream. Too fat for the hot chocolate we planned.

Large Texas BBQ from Dominos. 50% off. As per the norm, it was downed quite quickly.

That's a great call. I'd have blubbed as well. I'd be really interested to see a set list. His stuff is sublime. Anung sent me a copy of The Thing soundtrack years back. It is stunning.

It actually had an incredibly diverse set of his work, with a key focus on ones that aren't immediately recognisable. Opened with The Untouchables, then went into a number of tracks from The Red Tent, then a selection from Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down. Then I believe it was some non-film compositions (but inspired by) before the Leone Medley to close out the first half. Second half began with Last Stage Coach To Red Rock from Hateful Eight (Don't enjoy the film but what a fabulously sinister and moody track) before working into an extended collection of his Italian works from earlier decades (was actually well chuffed to see Investigation Of A Citizen Above Suspicion get a look in) and it really showcased the range of his work, as well as the confidence of not just trotting out 'the hits'.

Then was a selection from The Mission to end on. After applause he returned to perform the opening bars of Cinema Paradiso before transitioning into the Love Theme. As soon as I heard those strings I just started nakedly crying again.

Only downer was that after this he brought back the female vocalists that featured, but they just redid what was performed earlier. I mean, when you get Ecstasy of Gold again I'm not going to complain too much, but given the sheer amount of his work that didn't feature in the concert (not a single piece from Once upon a Time in America for instance), it was a bit disappointing to get repeats to close out the show.
