Talking of refunds, I still don’t know anyone who has actually got any refund on PPI, despite what the adverts keep saying.

I got nothing. They said I knew what I was getting into. I didn't even know I had PPI, and after moving was never informed of anything until a few years later when a several thousand poud bill came through the door, because I had a direct debit set up to pay the minimum of what I was owing it didn't cover the PPI cost. Means I went over a limit, meaning I was then getting late fees and ppi and got strawberry floated. Now I'm about 8+ grand in debt and have to find about 6-8 grand to have my dogs eyes sorted. Yay.

PPI is before my time but isn't that pretty much the exact scenario that these reclaim PPI people are out to help with? :(

I got about £800 (iirc) on a PPI claim about 18 months ago.

The whole process too 11 months mind you.
...and the company still keeps calling me now.

That would make too much noise and would be unfair on your co-workers.

Father-in-law's funeral today.

All dressed up smart and just stood around waiting for the black cars.
Feels ever so odd.

Sorry to hear that.

I find that waiting part is the worst. You're only there for that one reason and it's arrived, and you really need it to start to let it all out.

Can confirm, waiting for the cars to turn up is easily the worst part. There's no right feeling for that moment, but the second the car actually turns up the emotions just start flowing. :(

My father in laws funeral started out quite interesting. I ended up sitting in a bedroom with 2 Black men who were in a heated discussion on slavery. One was arguing that it existed for thousands of years in all cultures, the other was furiously arguing that the British/Europeans invented it and that the versions of it before that date were not the same thing. They got increasingly heated and were furiously arguing their points before suddenly looking at me and asking what I thought…. :dread:

The rest of the day was a breeze after that.

That Wilberforce and Lincoln ruined everything for the White man and that I wished we could go back to how it was….

…I just mumbled something like “err umm I doubt a White Englishman is the best person to answer”. One of them was my brother-in-law and he pissed himself laughing and asked if I always gave in to his sister so easily. To which the answer was obviously yes.

Should have gone with "That would be an ecumenical matter"

What basis was he arguing it's not the same? It takes 5 seconds of searching Wikipedia for History of Slavery to demonstrates it predates British and Europeans.

Don’t make me have more flashbacks to it. :dread:

This was a fair few years ago but from what I remember his argument was mainly that the Europeans were the ones who turned it into a industry and that chattel slavery was always only really a European thing. Other cultures had types of slavery but that it was more of a punishing captured enemies sort of thing.

Either way it was not a conversation a White boy wanted to get too involved in.
