Pigeon just slammed full pelt into the office window right next to my desk. Fright of my strawberry floating life!

There is now a dead pigeon corpse on the ground below the window. :(

I guess it could always be resting.

Pining for the FJORDS?!! What kind of talk is that!

The outline it has left on the window does indicate that it must have had lovely plumage to be fair.

A crow has now appeared and is pecking at the pigeon corpse, and so the circle of life continues!

Now you must kill and eat the crow to assert your place at the top of the food chain

Good luck, I expect photos

Haven't noticed him post in a while, but is Tragic still about and did he tell his wife he was getting drunk and wanking over drag queens?

Crow had escaped before I got there so I was unable to assert my domination.

This was the scene of devastation I found:

That pigeon has been well and truly Rooked.
There's no carrion after that. Seriously. I'm not Raven.

Deep fakes are going to destroy our society. We’ll never ever be able to believe anything ever again.

Who needs deep fakes when people already share and believe regular and easy to debunk fakes?

There are ways to counter deep fakes, and most of them (like checking the source) are already applicable today to existing forms of fakes news. There are also technological solutions to deep fakes, like cryptographically signing images and videos to verify their source.

Regular people can't be relied on to do the above due diligence, and never have done. Society functions because of the trust people place in news sources that do perform such checks. The larger problem we have in the modern world isn't the threat of deep fakes, it's the erosion of trust in established media and the states that regulate them.

Deep fakes don't eliminate the verifiability of news, but they make the trust and regulation of the media more important.
