On Feb 13th I'm part of a panel of authors at Effra Social in Brixton for The Riff Raff's regular series

And on March 12th I'm the spotlight author at Foyles on Charing Cross Road

Please do consider coming! These things are quite nerve wracking for me.

If anybody goes then they need to keep their GRcade membership secret until the very last moment when they whisper "stick around, we'll go bowling" into your ear.

Do they have security at these kinds of events? Feels like someone would get strawberry floated over long before they managed to whisper anything in your ear!

If anybody does it, then I hope they don't tell you who they are and never mention it on here. You will then always be wondering who it actually was.

I think you're vastly overestimating the popularity and typical audience of book events :slol:

Haha, possibly!

The only events I've been to have been at literature festivals which probably explains the larger security presence, I imagine for one off type things it's a bit more low key!

I'll be in Manchester March 17th and 18th for some lit fest related stuff, so that will be an interesting point of comparison! Not sure if those events will be open for public ticketing though...

I saw Chris Hoy give a talk at the Cheltenham literature festival a year or so back and they practically frisked people on the way in. I felt like saying "Have you seen Hoy? He's massive, if I try anything the guy will strawberry floating batter me!"

If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear from the book police.

Well will have no need for the book police when the purification work is completed.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which Jenuall is always right.”

Think I've picked up a stomach flu :dread:

At least I've got the good sense to keep it from spreading by calling in sick to work.
