She had intrinsic knowledge of the cooking today I didn’t have and also intrinsic knowledge of cooking that came from like 15 years more cooking than I’ve done

My knowledge is very low regarding the subject so I do recipes or require guidelines, hers is thousands of times more skilled than mine ergo she has an intrinsic skill of cooking that I do not..?

Sounds like Taf ASSUMED the gender and power dynamic in our home and put roles on us without understanding us to suit his need to find patriarchal domination in all aspects of others lives

No one has an intrinsic nature of cooking. Everyone has to learn. Also you're a grown ass man and these are fairly basic life skills.

You could take the 10 seconds to Google "How long to boil potatoes" (It'll be about 10-20 minutes depending on size - I know that because)

Your girlfriend also isn't wrong "until they are done" is a fine instruction - because you can poke to see if they're done/soft. She (might not) know how long they'll take, she's telling you how to check (pretty much any boiled veg)

Pretty much this. Not having the initiative to Google super simple cooking times isn't a great look.

@Cora: I just hate cooking and don't really care about what I eat. No joke, I know this is a bit grim but I've genuinely always assumed I won't make it to middle age anyway as the depression will get me eventually so health isn't really a big concern either.

My diet has improved a fair amount in general for the years I've been living with my partner, as she'll make up two portions if she feels like cooking. She isn't under any pressure to (and I'm always happy to get take-out or something microwavable, which happens quite often, hence cold Domino's). (We've literally never argued about food fwiw.)

I understand what Taf's saying about the patriarchy but I'm willing to put my Pringles where my mouth is and actually live off garbage and do really do that, like some kind of giant sad nerd-raccoon, if left to my own devices. I feel like what's really problematic is if you expect/demand cooking.

So anyway, I feel False is probably not a million miles away from me and I don't think it's fundamentally grounded in sexism, if anything it's probably more to do with getting into the habit of not bothering to look after yourself properly because you hate yourself

Well, crud. That's just plain... I don't even know. It makes it seem like it was done on purpose, though. Fans will buy anything, celeb thinks those fans are creeps, puts... something in a bottle claiming it to be bathwater and sells it, saying not to drink it which obviously that subset of fans would definitely do. At what point did she think it wouldn't be DNA checked if someone died from it?
