I'm watching it right now I need to download the new version of Dumbo at some point. That's more of a remake that I can get behind. I don't understand why they're just remaking animated films that were made during their most successful years, that are still great films to watch now (Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Aladdin, etc). If they *have* to remake stuff, I wish they'd go for all the old films that were never actually that good because of the constraints they had at the time.

I enjoyed Aladdin. A Whole New World not as good as the Peter Andre and Katie Price version, but I guess you can’t have everything.

Like, Will Smith isn't awful as the genie, but it's such a disappointing Friend Like Me after the "lets spend our entire budget on this one song" version in the stageshow:

I suspect it's to make it a little bit less blatantly obvious that they're remaking the animated films to get around the 90 year copyright law that's starting to creep up on the Snow Whites, Dumbos and Pinocchios of the catalogue.

I enjoyed the new Aladdin and I also get the horn for Jasmine. Best of both worlds .

I don't think that's how that works?

EDIT - Unless you mean they're releasing them all now while they still have the exclusive ownership of the original works/titles (i.e only Disney can release a Pinocchio film until 2030-something)? In which case, yeah that's probably a big factor.
