I think half of Ad7 posts are him moaning about books.

Libraries do audio books, though I don't know how common it is.

I get my landlord to read books to me aloud in his warm brown voice.

He reads aloud in a 1970s sitcom Indian accent? :dread:

I kind of fancied the audio version of the Harry Potter books for in the car during my drive to work.
Then I looked on Audible and saw it would cost £186 for all 7.
Slight cheaper on the Google Play store, at £165 for the 7

I expected maybe a tenner per book or some kind of £50-60 bundle for the lot, not almost £200.

You can get all of them for like £26 on Audible

How? Some of them seem to be about £33 each when I looked last night.

Don't buy them for money. Buy them for 1 Credit. 1 Credit gets you anything on the site, regardless of price.

You get 1 per month for your sub (£7.99 IIRC, although first month free)
Or Buy 3 for £18

Free month (1 Credit) then 2*£18 (2*3 Credits) = 7 Credits

Don't buy anything on Audible for cash, unless its for less than £6

IIRC a lot of libraries have an app where you can "borrow" e- and audio-books as you like.

+1 check your local library

Alternatively lets start a forum project where we take it in turns recording chapters of Harry Potter for Laga to listen to

A better idea would be to get Ad7 to narrate it all.

My horrid nasal monotone voice would suit it perfectly :datass:

Better still, I'll sing it, but in a key that's just out of my range.

The council webpage for my local library does list audiobooks (£1 per CD for 4 weeks) so I'll maybe take a look tomorrow.

Never even thought of a library having audiobooks. Been years since I went into one.

The best part would be trying to figure out which member was the one who recorded the chapter.

(Heavily accented brummie that still manages to sound like a ten-year-old on Xbox Live) "No post on Sundays," he reminded them happily as he spread marmalade on his newspapers, "no damn letters today - "

My wife just had her bike nicked in a crowded square at 12pm when it was double locked onto a bike rack. strawberry floating Oxford. There's no way that no one saw it happen, either. Someone saw and decided not to act on it. So angry. People are dicks.

They probably assumed it was the owner and they'd lost the key/combination or something. My old colleague had a story of a guy at uni who took an angle grinder down to the bike rack (as he had lost the key) and no one questioned it
