The argument is that it’s user error. Despite the fact that the country of birth is noted as Australia but she’s noted as a British Citizen on the form.

Why is British Citizen even an option for applying to do a test TO BECOME A BRITISH CITIZEN?

You didn’t find out if she could stay before you married?

Only in store shops though otherwise I’d go for it.

Why would you? If you love someone enough to marry them, you're probably going to want to be married whatever their visa status is, no?

It’s the sort of thing you would check and discuss, or at least I would. To be prepared for what could come.

Yeah I totally agree you'd discuss all possibilities, my partner is a foreign national as well (Italian, so Brexit is very relevant) and we've talked about what we'd do if she were ever unable to remain here.

It's just I read Hexx's comment as more "she should have done the test before you married her" which seems a bit harsh(!), or did I get the wrong end of the stick?

I can see how you could see it that way, I think I just read it from a different angle.

Yeah I think Hexx was joking tbf. She’s on an ancestry visa so won’t get deported - worst case scenario she needs to get the visa renewed first, which is an additional £3,000, but it shouldn’t come to that.

We've been having IT problems all day and were told that if we wanted to we could take a half day or make up the hours. Quite a few people took them up on it, but I thought I would hang around as I didn't want to waste holiday or make up too many hours. I figured just after 1pm would be a good time to leave.

And now all the systems are working perfectly. :x :x :x Why didn't I bugger off when I had the chance?

Haha, always leave when you have the chance!

To be fair I did exactly the same when this happened at our place a month or two back. One guy on our team basically left the instant there was a problem, I just don't have the balls for that kind of tactic!

Yeah I should have left. But making up 6 or 7 hours didn't appeal. Now I could only have to make up 2 or 3 hours but no longer have the excuse. :x

Do you think they would realise if I poured a glass of water over my computer?

You need to do something that simulates the problems that everyone was having before, if its only your machine that is still broken tomorrow then people are going to be suspicious...

Obvious answer is to pour water over everyone's computers!

A reception did this in A&E when I was desktop support at our local hospital. They maintained they didn’t but you could literally swish the water back and forth in the monitor and see he pool of water around it.
