Maybe try a hot bath. Relaxing routine (hot choc, easy listening music etc) before bed.

I've had a viral infection which I know about which has all been cold and flu like symptoms, but over the last few days I suddenly got super bunged up and only at night I've been coughing up this thick mucussy stuff that looks kinda brown. I'm definitely going to call the GP, but I think I feel bad because I haven't properly slept in a long time due to all the coughing. I'm going to restart steam inhalation.

I think I wouldn't be as scared if it wasn't for the thick sicky mucus that I've been coughing up. Because it's happening late at night and im not really with it when it happens I can't tell what it actually is and im worried its something serious.

I imagine it's all related and my nose keeps bleeding due to how much it's been abused, so it's possibly not being helped by that.

Could be a secondary infection of your sinuses. Have you got some good decongestants?
It's horrible. Bed rest, lots of fluids and pain relief. Paracetamol 1g 4x a day and brifen 400 mg 3 times.

Cocodamol will help you sleep and treat aches. but it makes some people sick or constipated.

Try some olbas oil or menthol crystals

I've got Olbas, I haven't been taking paracetemol as I didn't want to overdo it, but I can start taking it again.

Issue is bedrest is off the table, being in bed is the worst place for me at the minute, it makes me feel worse

Got a comfy armchair? Lying down isnt good if you're clogged up struggling to breathe. Blanket and pillow and cat naps.
Rest is key.

Far as I know! We worked remotely but he's come to Lyon a fair few times and we've met up for lunch or drinks. He's just moved here and invited me and the wife over for dinner. I mean, I'm supposed to be having lunch with him on Friday.

It's much, much more likely that you simply didn't pop into his head at that moment for what was probably, for him, a relatively low-effort tweet, than it being some kind of slight.

Oh I didn't take it as a slight. I just found it a little... disappointing that even after all that time working together he didn't think of me.

Ah, I see. I get what you mean, but I think it's probably just a slip, right?

In fact depending on how he interpreted the question he might have not thought of you specifically because he was trying to think of lesser-known writers, and to him you aren't lesser-known because you're relatively close colleagues.
