Watching an old Top of the Pops on BBC4 and Eddy Grant’s “Give Me Hope Jo’anna” was on. The presenter said “a great song with a great message”. Which confused me as I always assumed it was about a girl called Joanna that he fancied but who always rejected him.

Listening to the lyrics properly though....

The pile of stuff in the garage to take the to tip got to critical mass in the week, so I loaded the van up last night ready to take it straight there after work. As I lifted the very last box of stuff up, there was a nasty looking spider, which I jokingly thought to myself may be a false widow spider (I've never seen one). I googled one out of interest. Turns out it was a false widow spider I dispatched of it, but now I'm wondering what the hell has been sat in the rest of the stuff in the van overnight.

In other, even more distressing, news - a guy in my team (aged 29, so not a green kid) hadn't ever heard of the Pet Shop Boys. I don't expect people to like all types of music, but to have not even heard of them, I just can't deal, I'm so shook right now

They still get a fair amount of radio play which is why the main reason I've heard of them to be fair.

Left to my own devices I probably wouldn't have.

You’re not used to the puns because you live in the east of the country. If you go west then you’ll find that they are common, for me making puns is always on my mind.

Careful heading west though, you might find yourself in a dead end world.
