I know we don't get along very well, but this gooseberry fool sounds horrific.

Hope you're doing ok.

They didn't tell us the female was in heat, her first time, or that their garden was unsecured. We left them for 3 minutes unsupervised and they've gone. They have my wife's phone number on their collars but it's been 4 hours now so we're beginning to fear the worst. We've walked and driven all over the local area and seen nothing of them. They're expensive dogs so it's not out of the question they've been taken.

Feeling angry, guilty, confused and a whole bunch of other stuff right now.

Looking after my sister's two snakes while she's away in Canada with her husband. Thought one had escaped today (she told me it tried to escape before by pushing a vent cover off the back of the tank) but it just dug itself deep in the sawdust and was sleeping.

It'll be about a, week or so. I mean I'm actually OK. My new ward is good and far less exacting but it's just the lingering anger at how it happened and a real sense of injustice. It just bothers me and I just think speaking to a professional counsellor will help me process it a bit better.

What has been nice is that the other patients on that ward have sent me messages via staff - offering support, wishing me well and telling me how much they miss me looking after them. That's a really positive, vindication of me as a nurse and role model to them and made me quite emotional. That helped a lot. A few of them cheerfully offered to beat up my accuser as well. I thanked them for their loyalty but urged them not to do so.

The goddamn saga continues...

Both dogs have now swapped roles. When we got here he was super blasé and she was pestering him constantly. This is apparently how they are together generally (she's only a year old).

Ever since they came back from their 5 hour disappearance she's been super scared, arched back, concerned face, and he's been unbearable. He won't leave her alone, keeps trying to mount her, is constantly licking her. Whenever he sees her he starts leaking strawberry floating semen all over the place. He's chemically castrated but apparently this doesn't affect him getting a knob on.

We've started seperating them at night and today we're going to keep them apart as much as we can.

So much for a nice relaxing week playing with some pups...

They've strawberry floating run off again.

Gave chase, as we were keeping a vigilant, all seeing eye on them, so ended up looking like a mental running down a garden path shouting "King Kong King Kong!" They kept going.

Chased them into a foresty bit and found an old badger den or something that they'd obviously disappeared into. Great. See you in five hours I guess.

Neuter your strawberry floating dogs.

....king Kong...

Oh Taff, I do sympathise.

Btw dogs love being chased and see it as a game. The best thing to do is the have food as a bribe and just stand still offering it to them, and as long as you don't give any hint of a chase they should come to you.

Why are they not neutered/spayed? Why is the garden so easy for them to get out of?

Point 1: strawberry floating TELL ME ABOUT IT.

Turns out neutering your dog is a "Eh, I might get around to it" optional thing here in France. 90% of dogs you see (the male ones at least) are not physically neutered. King Kong (our male) is chemically castrated but, news flash, it ain't strawberry floating working. Apparently the owners vaguely wanted to breed the female for some strawberry floating reason too. (they aren't breeders)

Point The Second:

We're currently living on an estate. Our friend's family owns the whole thing, and there's about 3 houses on here and a bunch of apartments. This sort of generational estate apparently isn't uncommon here. We were explicitly told not to worry about letting them run free as they always come back. Well not when the female is on heat they don't (which, remember, is the first time this has happened as she's only a year old).

It's bad timing and poor planning by the owners.

We seperated them last night and got no strawberry floating sleep as KK kept whining and pawing at the door.

Have these dogs got y'know like a lead?

Maybe keep them on one? ;)

Does sound massively frustrating though, how much longer have you got them? Hope there are no more incidents!
