The outline it has left on the window does indicate that it must have had lovely plumage to be fair.

A crow has now appeared and is pecking at the pigeon corpse, and so the circle of life continues!

Now you must kill and eat the crow to assert your place at the top of the food chain

Who needs deep fakes when people already share and believe regular and easy to debunk fakes?

There are ways to counter deep fakes, and most of them (like checking the source) are already applicable today to existing forms of fakes news. There are also technological solutions to deep fakes, like cryptographically signing images and videos to verify their source.

Regular people can't be relied on to do the above due diligence, and never have done. Society functions because of the trust people place in news sources that do perform such checks. The larger problem we have in the modern world isn't the threat of deep fakes, it's the erosion of trust in established media and the states that regulate them.

Deep fakes don't eliminate the verifiability of news, but they make the trust and regulation of the media more important.
