I don't remember if that's the exact one I have but it's basically the same.

Fill it with lukewarm water, plunge, rinse repeat until the blockage comes up. It can take a while sometimes but it does work.

Ah, when you said plunger I thought you meant a... plunger. I've got a syringe, can't wait to use it* after a few days of softening the wax up.

Do you guys not regularly clean your ears or something? How do things get to be so bad? I've never heard of anyone I know having these kinds of issues.

Word of warning: I used to do DIY ear wax clearing myself and it was one of the factors that lead to me developing mild tinnitus so whilst your mileage may vary I'd leave it to the professionals.

You guys don't clean them out with a q-tip? Yes I know it says not to on the q-tip box, but come on they just put that there to cover their asses in case someone stabs their eardrum with one.

Q-Tips are not actually that good, they push the wax further into the ear causing other problems.

In other news it's the anniversary of my mum's death today and I feel a bit down, gotta go to work though. I don't want to be upset and I cried last night, because at the end of the day it's just like any other day since that day, there's no special significance.

Has anyone got any tips for me of how to deal with this?

Just think of it as another day, because it is. I just don't think about it any more really, either for my mum or dad. I remember their birthdays and carry a card in my wallet to remind me of when mum died, but other than that I've just shut it away.

I agree with Ad, but if you feel the need to mark the day then perhaps consider lighting a candle or something symbolic like that.

I must add that I tend to bury stuff which works for me. I find it easier to put stuff away than to deal with reality on that really.

I think most people do this over time, because you have to. If you didn't, you would be in an endless cycle of grieving, that is less healthy.
