So I ordered stayfever medicene from Boots ages ago to get ready for when I ran out, left it in the box. Today I open the box and rather than the £4 bottle of Piriton I ordered I have a £72 bottle of Hugo Boss. lmao

One of the most recent Better Call Saul episodes springs immediately to mind, but I won't go into more detail in case of spoilers.

Suffice to say: that fancy perfume won't do gooseberry fool to help your hayfever!

I'm thinking of trying to sell it because I've got no use for it, but its not exactly the easiest thing to sell when you're lazy and don't want to go out anywhere.

Apparently it’s “International Friendship Day” today so you need to go find an international friend to give it to.

Two problems with your question there.

Been doing a lot of driving today (beautiful day to take a tour around Exeter etc. 8-) ) and forgot to bring my connectors which let me listen to my phone so I've been stuck with Radio 2 for the last 4 hours :dread:

They've been banging on about this international friend day stuff all day and getting people to phone in to talk about their relationship with their best friend. I don't think I've had someone I could count as a "best friend" since being in school in all honesty. It's just one of those relationships that I just don't see existing in my life.

I find friendship in general to be a complex concept as you grow older, as a kid your friends are people you see all the time and do pretty much everything with but age and responsibilities like work and family seem to fundamentally change what the expectation of a friendship really is. I've got plenty of people in my life who I still have social interactions with when I get the time and who I enjoy the company of, and I I were asked to put a label on it is say we were friends. But it just doesn't seem the same level of relationship to what a "friend" would have been earlier in life. I guess part of the difference is that what I might call a friend now is someone for who the association between us is less tightly bound to a love of some shared hobby or activity, but more down to circumstance - we live nearby, our kids go to the same school etc. I know I'd definitely struggle if someone asked me to name a best friend at this point in my life.

I think I'm a bit gooseberry fool at the whole friend thing in general really, I'm not great at keeping in contact with people. The last really close group of friends I'd say I had was years ago at uni but I've lost touch with most of them and those I still see are because we still live nearby rather than any particular investment on my part!

I know how you feel, to be honest. I can count on one hand the people I've met in my adult life who I actually consider my friends, and all of them were originally work colleagues. All of my other friends, I've known since Year 7, and I'm generally pretty poor at keeping in touch with any of them.

I genuinely don't know how adults make friends outside of the workplace.

I went to school with a lot of my group of friends but didn't actually associate with them until we were adults, weirdly. That said I think I've made a reasonable amount of friends in my adult life, but it's been really difficult. They come from all kinds of sources too - a couple of people I'd describe as very close friends(or at least, close enough to have semi-regular access to Loki - people only befriend me to get to him) were originally part of the Glasgow meets we did on here ten or eleven years ago, and I've met folk both as an undergraduate and a postgraduate student that I'd describe as friends. Generally though, I don't even know how you'd go about meeting new people.
