This is basically Brave New World

I've never had the pleasure of reading it but it has been on my list of books to get around to for a very long time!

I finished it just a few days ago, I'm on a fiction binge at the moment - for the last 15 years, I've exclusively read non-fiction. Within the last few weeks, I've read The Man Who Fell to Earth, Brave New World, and I've just started Flowers for Algenon.

I wish soma was real.

Indeed, only became aware of the book after it was referenced in Person of Interest.

I also remember seeing an episode of Rugrats that was essentially a kid friendly retelling of it.

Flowers for Algernon is one of those books where once you've read it you see references to it all over the place

There's an Always Sunny episode based on it

I think there's an episode of Archer that's at least named after it

There is an episode of The Simpsons heavily based on it, and weirdly a two part story in The Amazing Spider-Man called Flowers for Rhino that adapts the storyline.

I like the shanties but that question format really gets me.

I feel as though it's spread across the internet from reddit - "people don't appreciate anime from Kyoto in 1980-81 and I think that's unacceptable??"
