Also surely "trip up Bulldog" is just normal bulldog - the whole point was just to strawberry float up anyone trying to get from one side to the other, nobody cared how!

There did seem to be a difference between the two versions we played, 'trip up' always had a tendency to be far more violent.

Never actually played it on concrete though.

We used to play space invaders at school. Kids would all line up against a wall and then one kid would throw/kick a ball at them. If you got hit, you were out.

It was fine with plastic footballs, was very painful when it was cricket balls....

I'm joking, we were too poor for cricket balls!

Today I am stupidly excited to have the UK's newest railway station open just down the road, because it means I no longer have to drive to get to Newcastle.

11am - Contact all wedding guests to say based on the latest government advice, the wedding date has been moved to the end of August and we'll have limited numbers at the church and then everyone else at the reception in our garden where it's obviously outdoors.

4pm - Government change advice to say there should be no wedding receptions, no food and drink served if you do have one, and no more than 6 people to attend if you have one in your garden.

Hide and Tig = a variation of "hide and seek" where contact must be made as in tig. It starts with one searcher who counts down while all other players hide, and then each person who is caught becomes another searcher until everyone has been caught.

This one was called Tracker round here. Was the favoured game to be playing.

Anyone else play Red Rover? (On concrete of course). Two lines of kids opposite each other, all linked arms and holding tight to defend themselves. Call someone over who would run as fast and hard as they can to smash through the human barrier, usually breaking the chain violently with a trip to A&E through broken arms or just toppling the whole side if they stay attached to each other's elbows.

Thats a bit mad considering I live about 5 or so miles away from you, it was hide and tig in brum. I dont think tracker was ever a name here! What a difference 5 miles makes!

There was a game called Aki 123 in my neighbourhood, it probably had a different name but that's what we called it. Sort of similar to hide and tig but there was a post/tree that the person who was 'it ' counted from. If they found someone, that person and the person who was 'it' had to get to that post first and say "aki 123" before the other one. Anyone found by 'it' and beaten to the tree was the next person to be it.

My aunt had a really crappy old banger kept on mums drive when I was about 11, we (as in me and the neighbourhood kids) called it "shitty shitty bang bang". One day we were playing that game and I decided that I wanted to hide in the car. I managed to unlock the left door with a lolly stick (I still to this day have no clue how that happened, but the car was that old the lock would have probablygiven way to anything) and hid in the car. No one found me, (the car was facing my mums place so from the main road I couldn't be seen) I even watched one of the kids knock on the front door asking if I could come back out and told my mum I was cheating by going inside! In the end I came out the car when my mum started looking around very worried, shouting my name. The car got toed away about a month later to be crushed.

The game you describe sounds more like Tracker, and ours got invaded by an aggressive bulldog once.

We played Curby. Which was basically throwing a ball at a curb.

You can understand why I stayed indoors and played Ristar.

"Aki 123" sounds like what we called "Rally 123"
