Glad the insurance didn't try and write it off at least.
Dealing with insurance and car damage etc is super annoying even when it's an accident or there was no intent to cause harm. The way your car was damaged must be proper infuriating.
Btw, do insurance companies favour writing off cars over repairing for some reason? I'm super foggy on the details now - but it was a nightmare at the time. I had a 10+ yrs old at the time nothing special but had sentimental value sports car, it got pranged (not my fault - Other driver claimed responsibility) in my eyes not a write off just body work and paint damage.
They keeped seeming to keep pushing to write it off. I wanted to get it fixed with my usual garage - had to be one of their approved garages [fine]. I think one garage it was sent to basically didn't want to do it - so came back with this ridiculous quote or said they couldn't repair it. I was offered more money than both the repair costs and what [in real terms] it was worth or I would have got in resale. In some ways would have been easier to take the money but I had a lot of affection for the car and just wanted it fixed which was a relative easy repair and less expensive than writing off. It got sorted in the end but it was a massive stressful inconvenience involving too many annoying phone calls
