I've turned off the highly divisive soap opera effect (motion interpolation), which, for me, kind of ruined Mad Max: Fury Road last night.

It's not divisive at all, it's near unanimous that pretty much every enhancement setting from every manufacturer makes the picture worse.

Your best bet with every telly is turning all those features off.

I've turned it off but it still looked dodgy. I was watching Marco Polo though. Maybe this is filmed in that format anyway, like The Hobbit? Gonna have to watch Mad Max again, without the dodgy frame rate!

It's just telly - save your money for something more interesting! Our main tv is a 28" christ knows how many years old panny crt and the plasma panny upstairs is not that much younger. When they break I'll think about replacement. Not before!

Fair enough but you're clearly not a film buff like me. Picture makes a difference. I'm sure you spend money on things I wouldn't deem important, like upgrades for your car or something?

PS 'Cars' - definitely NOT important!

How far do you sit back from the screen? Are you really noticing a difference on a 4K tv over what you'd be seeing on a 1080p screen?

I'm noticing a big difference compared to my full HD tele which was admittedly on its last legs, but who knows if I could truly tell the difference between HD and 4K. I sit about 1.5m from the tv.
