Finished this last night and loved it, will try some online multiplayer next and I would like to go through the campaign again with the other characters.

Great to see the brawler genre getting some new entries with this, SOR4 and Final Vendetta. Got this on Game Pass but may pick up on PS5 or Switch later.

Been playing this over the last couple of days and it's real good arcade fun, though SoR4 is still the undisputed champion for me. It def feels more like a frenetic Scott Pilgrim. The multiplayer is lots of fun, but crazy chaotic when the party is full; hard keeping track of where you are! Seems fairly easy to breeze through the levels so far (on level 12), but the tasks look like they'll take effort to complete. There's definitely been a lot love given making the game, it looks and sounds great! Patton on vocals too

Played the first level now, it's a great nostalgia hit but the gameplay hasn't grabbed me quite as immediately as the best of the genre manage to - might need to experiment with some other characters a bit more to find one that clicks!

Summary -

the game has linage to the Scott Pilgrim game and the GBA TMNT brawler
a lot of callbacks from Konami's 89 TMNT arcade game
xbox version of the game has about 50ms of audio lag
the engine is based on Monogame, an open-source C# framework
all versions are 1080p, with nearest neighbor scaling
on playstation, the audio only plays from the center channel, will be fixed
on switch, there's a frame time issue every 9 seconds, will be fixed
in multiplayer, the performance drops to the 40s at worse
xbox, pc, switch supports 6 players locally
playstation only supports 4 players locally

Some of the bosses in this are crazy. Was in a group of 5 and we all got leathered by Baxter Stockman.

Bit of a wierd one. Played the first two levels on the PC and loved it. Just went to play level 3 and just had what I can only describe as a mini epileptic episode. My eyes kept locking onto the fast moving sprites that scroll past, and it made me feel incredibly dizzy and now I feel hot and sick. Anyone else having an issue?

Oh strange. Can’t say I have. Played about 8 levels. I have been having a few issues with eyes and straining at the screen lately. Put it down to age, rather than a specific game.

I am an epileptic, not a photosensitive Epileptic though, I have felt sensations similar to what you have described but only when trying to play games too soon after having had a fit, were you tired or did you have a migraine while trying to play? I haven't felt anything bad at all while playing this but I have only played it while properly awake and happy.

Thanks both. Really strange, never had an issue before. It was at the end of a long day and I had just had a drink, so maybe tiredness + Alcohol. I had to give up on the Van boss as I just couldn't focus on anything (or more like I kept on focusing on things I shouldn't).

Will give it a go later and hopefully it will be better, or maybe if I try in Windowed mode with a small window.

Like you say Bertie, it's most likely me just getting old :(

Been knocking through this game. It's actually a lot longer than I expected. Quite enjoying it and it's fairly difficult.

Does anyone else want to play some online stuff at some point. I'm the PC feel like I should try and do some multiplayer.

I've tried with six players online and what can I say?

It's crazy and mayhem! I couldn't see anything properly as there were so much things going on at once.

Finished the main story yesterday, was fairly straightforward tbh. Unlocking Casey was a nice surprise! Gonna have a go getting all the challenges next, some of them look like they'll be tricky enough. Then will try boosting the other characters.

Played this through on Saturday with a couple of friends, it's great fun! The art and animation is excellent, I don't know why beat 'em ups are the genre that really goes for it on the visuals but I appreciate it continues to be a thing (maybe a 2D beat 'em up is analogous to the modern FPS campaign?). The game sounds great too.

I played as Donatello for the first half then Splinter for the second, both were fun to play as and it was nice how they would still level up without making changing character unviable - compared to say Scott Pilgrim where if you want to change character you basically have to run them through the whole game.

My main complaint would be how all the bosses could basically just be trivialised by taunting and spamming specials. The monkeys who would throw bananas at you if you taunted were a smart counter but that idea seemed to go away as quickly as it appeared. Three players presumably made the game easier too, we never game overed and no one ever lost all of their lives. The hoverboard levels weren't my favourites either, but they were fine. Overall all pretty minor complaints!

I imagine with a full six players it would be pretty chaotic, even with three it could occassionally be hard to read the screen (even though they have their distinct colours, I found switching to Splinter helped me not get confused).

If you have an active netflix subscription you can download this for iOS and Android as of today. Seems to play pretty good with touch controls as well.
