Whoops!

We're still pootling along at the moment, it did look like it was going to all die out, but we're keeping our head above water at the moment. Just. For how long, I couldn't tell you. :(

We do try and update it as much as we can. But it's perhaps not quite as fluid at the moment. There was a gooseberry fool load of MW2 stuff recently. Although, to be honest, a lot of it was, shall we say... lacking? Yes, 'lacking', that will do. ;)

Thanks for the interest though, chaps, is always nice to hear people are looking out for us. Makes it worth it, definitely.

And as I am fairly egotistical, here are a few of my recent personal bits. Some of them go back a bit, but I haven't updated this thread in a while. Feedback, as always, is very welcome. As I say though, these are just my pieces, have a nose around the site for various other bits and bobs. It's a little bit scattergun, but we do what we can!

Oh, and I must pimp this fine Shigsy interview by our very own Chris Schilling: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/n ... tendo.html

PS. Strictly speaking the extensive gaming coverage was never 'supported'. I have to do this stuff in my spare time.

Great review there Thongings, and I agree with the complaints. As you say the story is absolute nonsense, and I’m not interested enough to want to see it through to its conclusion. I don’t agree with your thoughts on Ezio, as I still feel no attachment whatsoever to the character or his thirst for revenge.

It's unfortunate, but the problems I have with the game far outweigh my positive thoughts about it. The combat feels cumbersome after having played the likes of AA, with locking onto enemies being a big hassle. Sometimes it won't lock onto the right person, and other times it won't work at all. It's also far too easy to simply wait for an enemy to attack then counter them for an instant kill, much like I did in the first game.

Then there's the platforming that feels automatic, which takes away any real skill. That said, there have been times where Ezio simply refuses to grab onto anything when making a leap to a building which results in death. The game doesn't feel nearly as fluid when trying to move between platforming and combat. I think AA has spoiled me somewhat, as I yearn for the mechanics from that game.

I haven't actually bothered to play much of it since last week, which is a shame as I just can't get enough enthusiasm to want to play it. It's gotten great reviews, yet it feels like every other sandbox game in that it's fairly repetitious with the exact same environments being backtracked through time and time again.

Perhaps I’ll come around to your way of thinking Thongings if I give the game more time. I think it’s just sandbox games in general that are wearing me out, though I loved InFamous.

The Legend of Zelda: A Retrospective (Part One)
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/v ... art-1.html

First of four chapters where I take a look back across my personal favourite gaming series of all time, and chat to Eiji Aonuma, the current director about the franchise. Today, it's The Legend of Zelda up to A Link to the Past.

Enjoy! And do spread the love where you can.

Nice. Could've been more detailed about Aonuma and Majora's Mask, maybe?

Thongings, is it your reviews that are put up on the Telegraph's iPhone app?

It's a great app if you're connected to it in any way. :)

So they edited lots of stuff out? :| Well it's a mainstream paper, I guess.

Our stuff goes up on the app, yeah. :)

It is a good app, actually, I like the layout of it, very nifty. On a similar note, the Eurogamer app's pretty good too.

Sadly, yes. My original file is 4,500 words long.
And that was me trying to restrain myself.

But it's been edited down and split into four now. It's a shame, but understandable I guess.

Yeah I really like the technology section of it. I read the (your) reviews while eating my lunch.

I'd be interested in reading the whole thing, especially if there's more Aonuma stuff. Or can't you share it cause the copyright is now owned by Telegraph and all that blah blah?
