Our freeview box is on the blink, so we need a new one. Can anybody recommend a model?

Our actual television screen can display in HD, but the signal output from the built-in digital TV service is standard def, so we have our current box plugged into the TV via an HDMI cable.

We're looking to buy a box that:
- can get us all the free-to-air channels in HD,
- allows us to record programmes from these channels, and
- has Netflix compatibility (other steaming services would be a plus but not essential)

Any suggestions?

If you want the latest model with the fanciest graphics (plus 4K support), then there's the Manhattan T3•R (£170, just launched): https://manhattan-tv.com/freeview-play. Various on-demand services but no Netflix advertised (at the moment).

Under that is the BT DTR-T2110 YouView+ box (cheapest at £125 and under). This includes all the main apps (Netflix, Amazon, NowTV etc) but no WiFi. This is the box also given away free with a BT TV subscription.

The Humax FVP-5000T (£189 and under) includes everything, and the only box that can record up to 4 programmes simultaneously, but a bit on the slow side and the on-screen graphics aren't quite as nice as the other two. Humax the most popular Freeview/Freesat recorder on the market however, they've been around for years.

And lastly, and most expensive of all, the Panasonic DMR-HWT150EB (£200 and under). Also includes everything and main apps, with the build quality you'd expect from Panasonic, but again can be a bit on the cumbersome side.

That's really good of you, SEP - however, our current one is exactly that; a second-hand YV box that was a gift to us! Cheers though!

Dan "bumped" this thread, which is why Kezzer's post is showing as being from today. It was actually made a year ago.
