Creating a topic for this. Looks like a few people here are playing it already on early access and I only just heard of the game now. Reviews and early impressions seem positive.
Temtem is an Indie RPG Massively Multiplayer Monster Catcher from a Spanish developer called Crema. The game uses the Unity development engine, and was partly funded through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, from May to June 2018.
It was released in early access on Steam on January 21st 2020. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch release date is September 6th 2022.
In the game, players assume the role of a novice Temtem tamer who start their journey around the six floating islands of the Airbone Archipelago while facing the threat of Clan Belsoto, an evil organization that plans to rule over the islands by force.

I keep hearing good things about this, I might give it a try if the price drops/if it leaves Early Access.
Props to them, though. It takes some bloody stones to make a Pokémon clone this bold-faced, and then port it to Switch.
