Ironically not only does the low poly flat effect make the vehicle look gooseberry fool, it also makes it harder to achieve what seems to be one of the goals here - strength. The fact that curved surface can withstand more force is pretty basic engineering principle.

Mm, isn't this going to very easily buckle along those "edges" in any kind of side-on collision? It's going to form a huge discontinuity in stress along that line, and fissure.
