The 2022 GR video games draft round 2

Thanks to all who signed up in the other thread (t:new-idea-for-a-forum-game-that-is-videogames-related-sign-up-now?f=2), we are still open for participants so please stick your name in that thread if you want to take part in a later round.

So here's the game. 4 contestants will take part in a draft to create the ultimate games lineup from a random year. They will have to draft one game in each of the following categories

Metacritic rating of >= 90 (can be filtered here https://www.metacritic.com/browse/games ... w=detailed)
Action/Adventure
RPG
Sports/Simulation
Puzzle/Strategy
Wildcard

Games can belong to multiple categories but once they're gone then they're gone. You can draft the categories in any order but you will need to state what category you are taking a particular game when you select it. Release date is based on the European one, this is less of an issue in more recent years but please bear this in mind. If a game didn't get a European region release then it's not available to draft.

Draft order will be in a snake draft format, so round one would be 1,2,3,4, round two 4,3,2,1 etc.

Then the final drafts will be voted on by everyone and the two people with the most votes will go through to the semi-finals.

The following will be this week's contestants in draft order.

2. OrangeRKN
3. ~~Parksey~~ DML
4. Herdanos

And their randomly assigned year is 2009.

I think we probably can and just wind our way along the draft as people's turn comes up. I'm not sure you really need any prep.

One thing to bear in mind though - not everyone's posting is as frequent as others and people's active times can vary so patience is required on all sides.

And here I was thinking that 2012 was lean.

That seems harsh, there is some tremendous stuff in 2009, particularly in that bracket just under 90 (Wipeout HD Fury, Left for Dead 2, Little King Story, Flower). But don't go picking Demon's Souls as it didn't release in the EU during 2009 (or at all if I remember correctly).

I've had a further look and maybe Drumstick is right. Although the highs in 2012 are higher, there isn't much across certain categories. RPGs for example look very slight, as does Puzzle/Strategy. Wildcard could be very strong though, lot of odd sort of titles in there.

I'm pleased to see that this round is moving along as briskly as the last.

Don't think Parksey has posted since the start of the week...

Guess we'llbe waiting till 2am each night for Parksey to post. Better settle in!

Plenty of time to think about games for other categories that will then get taken by people before it's my turn again!
