I had a conversation with my brother like three weeks ago where Des O'Connor was brought up and I was convinced he'd been dead for like 15 years.

Bob Monkhouse died in 2003 and Terry Wogan about 5 years ago. Easy to mix the 3 up i think.

Cheating bastard, but probably the greatest player of all time.

If there's an afterlife, I hope they've stocked up on cocaine.

RIP, the rascal.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

You can't help but have a bit of affection for the cheating git. Such a phenomenal player at his peak and also a magnificent advertisement for the dangers of class A drug use. RIP.

Edit: he was also responsible for the first time my mum heard me swear when I shouted bastard at the top of my voice during that game.

Hand of God is away to meet the rest of him.

Maradona is beloved in Scotland by all the plebs who hate England just because they’re England. From what I saw of him he was a brilliant player but had so many problems. Shame they caught up with him like that.

I like to think Soundgarden made a song about Maradona:

Alas, it was released way before Italia '90.

3 days of mourning in Argentina?

He was a cheat both in terms of on pitch conduct and being a doping failure on multiple occasions.

It's like the US having a state funeral for Lance strawberry floating Armstrong!

He is the face of football in Argentina pre-Messi though. The amount of Argentinian kids he inspired to become professional footballers is immeasurable.

I am as sorry he died as I am any random stranger who has died... I do find it weird people hero worshiping and looking up to a cheater though.
