You think of the amount of major names that have tragically died in helicopter crashes in recent years (like Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and rally driver Colin McRae to name but two) and those things are just so dangerous. And the reason is simple: there’s no back-up plan if the rotor fails. If an engine fails on a plane it can still fly.

Depends on the failure.

Both engine and gearbox can stop working and helicopters can still land.

Rotor failure is tied to maintenance - but I agree if a blade has a catastrophic failure then you have a problem, but an aeroplane would have the same issue if it was missing a wing ( some exceptions)

One of the biggest causes of crashes in GA flight today is still Fatal Loss of Control - but we will have to wait to find out what happened I guess.

Not a basketball fan but have obviously heard if such a famous star. Didn't know about the rape allegations. Although they are allegations. Not fact.

Its hard to say to what extent they are "allegations not fact though" when the witness was hounded to the extent that she stopped proceedings and then Bryant's team settled the civil case didn't they? Everyone was done to make sure the case never even went to court, to get the chance to prove the allegations false or not. As the article above mentions, plenty of people think that there was enough evidence to send Bryant to jail, and that knowledge doesn't disappear when the case falls apart and a lawsuit is settled out of court.

We have no choice but to call them "allegations" because Bryant's team stopped it from going up against a jury to be disproved. "Allegations" just ties everything up way too nicely, given how strongly some think he should have served prison time, given the evidence (that, again, never got a chance to go before a jury).

His decidedly iffy remarks about consent in that article are telling about his attitude on the matter, even if the case itself is, and will forever remain, only "allegations".
