I had no idea who this Trebek guy was, and I don't think I'm alone in that. The homogenization of global culture and view that "whatever is popular in the US is popular everywhere" is genuinely distressting at times. It always seemed like a really gooseberry fool premise for a show as well!

It's certainly no Tipping Point.

This feels like one of those stats where something is the most popular x in the world even though it's almost entirely consumed by a North American audience because that audience is so big. Which other countries are watching the American version of any studio game show in big numbers?

Cora would have done much better had he been on Jeopardy and not Tipping Point though

I can't find any stats which is a bit annoying.

I think the UK is odd in that we produce so many of our own gameshows, outside the USA, we are by far the biggest powerhouse. Lots of other countries either don't produce their own stuff, or they make their own versions of popular US/UK gameshows. So a lot of the big American shows are shown worldwide. In fact, back in the early days of cable in the UK, you could watch many of the big US gameshows. There was also a UK version of Jeopardy! but we didn't take to it - probably because there was no big cash prizes!

Or anything about US sports that isn't specifically about the mid 90's NBA (NBA Jam being my only reference point to basketball).

Was he the one holding out on the locations of the bodies? Coz if so his death must be frustrating for the loved ones of the dead.

That's Ian Brady and Myra Hindley you're thinking of.

Not even going to put him on the OP list, because strawberry float that.
