I've read a few articles here and there about ex-porn actors struggling to maintain relationships and live a normal life afterwards. Even if you're already a bit messed up going into that career, it's surely going to mess you up even further.

Yep. So many of them die young/early. I think drug abuse plays into a lot of it. Porn is this mega bucks industry, yet there seems to be no support network for the people within.

There was a Japanese star who killed herself at the tail end of last year, and thanks to the way the industry is set up there, they've continued to release new films of her that were shot months ago. Sounds like the studios involved are only concerned about making their money back given that they already paid for her and the shoot.

It's really poor just how readily that industry discards people, especially with a track record of recruiting already vulnerable people.

There's a great Jon Ronson podcast series called "The Last Days of August" that looks into the situation around August Ames when she killed herself years ago, and it doesn't sound like the industry has learned or improved much since then at all.

Horrible stuff. I remember Bree Olson going on record about how hard it is to transition back to 'regular' civilian life after doing porn, I can't imagine it's easy.

Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has died at the age of 66, less than two years after revealing his cancer diagnosis.

Myers, who formed one half of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo with co-presenter Si King, made the announcement on the Hairy Bikers - Agony Uncles podcast in May 2022, but did not specify what type of cancer he was suffering from.

In interviews in 2023, he said there were times during his chemotherapy treatment when he had been too ill to walk and unable to ride his motorcycle due to being unsteady.

However, the TV chef returned to filming towards the end of the year and has been seen on screens travelling from Scotland to Devon in the latest BBC Two series, Hairy Bikers Go West, since the beginning of February.

Ahead of the programme airing, King praised his "remarkable" co-star, saying: "It's a series that we will always remember - not that we won't remember others.

"We are very privileged to do what we do and I think this one was particularly special in general because of Dave's health and his sheer and utter determination and love for what he does.

"Especially to continue to do it while he was having treatment took remarkable courage and energy - and adds to why Dave and I will not forget it."

I liked watching their programmes on TV. Still regularly see their Knorr advert on as well.

Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.

Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya.

I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team. I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them.

May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon.
