Looks like it, there's two cowboys left, 3? villagers and people haven't really said anything for ages.

I think at least one player today will be kicking themselves. Isn't there still one player left to vote as well?

Woody hasn't voted but it wouldn't make a difference.

Only possible twist now is that Woody and one of Kurt or Lucy switch to vote for Gary in the minutes leading up to 7pm.

If two people suddenly swapped their votes that'd be pretty insane. Could you imagine if they did and that lynched a villager instead of a cowboy. :slol:

Oh, sure. That's only happening if Woody and Lucy are both Cowboys.... but if that's the case, they're already safe, so there's no incentive, so it isn't a possible twist, so I don't know what I was on about

Only three posts this afternoon :o

Think everyone should be able to see this thread now, feel free to let me kow if you have any comments/feedback on the setup/hosting. I appreciate the flavor was a little lacking in places but i'm always looking to improve so let me know if you have any thoughts or if you have any ideas for future game hosts to make their games better. :toot:

Great game. Finally caught up with this thread, so much to say but I wont get to cover half of it now.

I didnt get to be as active as I would like. I am starting a new job soon, so work is busy, then over the weekend I was away and actually got engaged  I had a meal booked on Saturday for 7pm of all times! Talk about inconvenient! The fact that I posted at midnight, followed by 7am the following day whilst away shows how obsessed I became, even if that wasnt clear from my post count.

I'm not sure, but I think my only wins have been in death before this game. I had to go in hard at the end because I lost access to my spreadsheet of doom which is a huge part of my games. I just knew Jamie was my intended target and had to throw everything that I had at it.

My arguement was weak, but I have learned that repeating the case is effective and at that point, I knew I only needed to win over one of the other two town players and didn't need to worry about the repercussions on the following day as we would have already won. I don't think that there was a clear alternative either, so I filled the void somewhat. I think that Lucy had a good shot at winning if I did die, but obviously I wanted to be as big a part of the victory as I could. She held her vote back on the last day until Kurt voted with me just in case, as it would have been pretty obvious if the counter argument against me was successful.

I have either been killed or have been up for lynch on day one for the last three games I think. It's one of the areas where I really need to improve and I would have been gutted to die on day one, especially having been sat on one of the most exciting roles (though please, never again!). To those who voted to lynch me on day one - revenge is sweet. Especially Uma who named me. You were right, but I have finally learned my lesson. To those who named me as cowboy later on, well done.

Really well run and enjoyable game. At times, so incredibly dramatic. I think every game needs at least one new role! I'm very pleased that the consensus was positive all round. I was worried that our great fortune taking out power roles early would have been disappointing from the other side of the game, but that doesn't seem to have impacted anyones enjoyment so that's great. Thank you all.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

Actually I thought your "flavour" was fine? (#nocontext)

Perhaps I'm being unkind but I thought the Cowboy seer role probably was a bit overpowered for a small game (I think I alluded to this in my posts at times). Maybe it would have been fairer if I'd have only been able to use my power on alternate nights.

Hard to know though as I get a feeling (and I may be wrong!) that the games run by a SONM runner have their mechanics based on an expectation that villagers will be open to strategies that we seem to simply refuse to engage with here on GR. So it's possible that the balance was there. I hope this doesn't come across as arrogant (I was a Cowboy and we won, after all!) to imply that the game was more winnable for the Village had they adopted a different strategy - I'm only able to come at this from my own perspective, which is skewed! But if I try to be logical and dispassionate; for such a small game, with the benefit of hindsight it seems like a very high proportion of the players (more than 25%) were Mafia. Add to this just one seer and no PMs and the odds are very stacked against the village if both the below are true:

- village won't consider enforced scumhunting and/or mass role claim
- enforced scumhunting and mass role claim are as powerful as Qikz et al say they are!

If I get time later today I might look at previous games and see how often the winning faction seems to be influenced by the 'origin' of the gamerunner.

I mean the game I ran was won by the third party and that had more roles than any other game I believe (13 players, everyone had a role) and that had no pms either. The village managed to lynch both of the mafia prior to the third party win as well and that was due to people actually saying stuff in the thread about their roles. Somehow the remaining players didn't notice the third party never backed up their role claim so he got a cheeky victory.

I think the main reason we don't do this 'scumhunting' tactic is because it would be boring as gooseberry fool.

Surely my Hannivalia game proved how OP role claiming is in an open setup...?

Not sure what sounds boring about everyone sharing who they think is mafia.

The worst thing about that was us, on numerous occasions, reminding them to post more frequently so they didn't get godkilled

If you go into an AYA? game and your sole intention is to win, then you have already lost.

MAKES U FINK HUN! :slol:

But really. What on earth is the appeal of everyone saying "I'm a X/Y/Z" and then just waiting for the people who claim to be a role to tell the villagers who to vote for and watching to see how long it takes each wolf to be caught out? How else does this tactic play out?

Literally what you try and do every game you can with your PM circle

Scumhunting =/= role claiming.

We are using scumhunting to mean everyone always sharing in thread who they think are mafia. It gives more to look at and discuss than just the voting record, and forces everyone (mafia included) to put names out there.

Was this the game where the town lynched Dusty Springfield at the end? I was only partially following along to that one but it seemed a crazy decision from the outside

Yeah, I was a baddie in that one and after losing a few regular villagers early on it basically became impossible once the role list was revealed and the verified list of goodies got bigger and bigger.

I don't recall the role claim in that game (I got killed early on... Drumstick :x ) but it's an interesting example - as arguably the game began with the most open setup ever, but slowly morphed into a very "classic" AYAW.
