I can't believe that the No Context thread has been closed.

I recognise that we don't want situations where people are worried about things but, in my humble opinion, there are probably far more examples of incendiary opinions and poor discussion being displayed in, say, the politics and football threads.

I genuinely think this is a bad move for the forum; not so much because a thread has been closed but because it appears to have been rail-roaded through with little or no evidence that anyone had requested for the thread to be closed. Are some folk really combing through the forum to find out-of-context words to hold against people in real life?

I'm surprised and I feel a bit uncomfortable about this outcome.

The OP requested the thread to be closed, going into some detail about both why he wanted it closed and how he doesn't have a problem with a new thread to continue if people want it to.

I'm genuinely struggling to see how this a big deal.
