The best player to ever lift a cue. Not my words but the words of Stephen Hendry and I agree with him wholeheartedly.

He's certainly the greatest player I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I just hope he doesn't retire just yet as he's got more World titles in him.

If you're talking about consistency you're right.But players playing at their best,there is an argument to be made for him.

No there isn't. He was only at the top for a tiny fraction of time. Davis, Ray Reardon, Hendry all had talent (and could do trick shots) but they married it with application and endless practise. Not partying and getting pissed like Higgins and Jimmy White.

Higgins had great natural talent - one of the best but it was only in potential. Sadly he'll be remembered for what he could have achieved instead of what he actually did. O sullivan looked to be going the same way but he has shown you can be precocious and still win things.

Oh and if we're talking pure ability - Sullivan is more talented than Higgins was.

i remember he destroyed O'Sullivan by deliberately taking really long times over shots, bascially infuriating, and frustrating Ronnie into errors when he got to the table.

At his best George best was as good as Pele. Pele even said so. Like Higgins, though he wasn't at his best for long enough.
I'll allow that in terms of pure talent Higgins was right up there. Takes more than talent to achieve greatness though. That's why i chose Best as an example - pair of them had all the ability in the world and pissed it away. Shame but it was their choice, i suppose.

Not even close to being the best to watch but sport is about characters and a colour blind snooker world champion who takes 5 minutes to compile a break of 12 is definitely a character.
